I'm back playing bar jams

I've been struggling playing my bass and guitars. I have arthritis in my right shoulder. If I play for more than a few minutes I have pain for a day. I started playing ukulele. With the small body and light weight I don't get much pain. Last week I bought a very nice all solid mahogany baritone uke with Fishman electronics. Last night I took it to a local bar jam. I rocked the stage for an hour and a half. Very little pain this morning. The uke fits well in the mix playing rhythm highlighting the two and four. I'm back baby!

I recommend a comfortable stool and a wide guitar strap for that shoulder.
While I didn't have any issues like KB, when I played on worship team some years back.... I started alternating between sitting on a stool and standing. (1) Frankly, I play better sitting down. (2) its an acoustic guitar and in my book it's okay protocol to play an acoustic guitar sitting down. So I did. In fact one Sunday.... it was summer vacation time.... we had a tough time getting enough people for a team. Didn't have a keyboard player. Either had a bass player or a drummer, but we didn't have both. What we did have was four guys set up in a 1/2 circle and did our best CSNY imitation on acoustic guitars. We ALL sat on stools. It was great.

So +1 on the sitting, Kerry.
