Painful decision.
This might be my #1 & #2.
But the SRTS movie, and this track in particular, made me want to learn to play guitar - and some day I just might...

I just can't not vote for Led Zeppelin.
I feel your pain. I voted Rush. Not a popular status but it is my choice. Either band is a win for me.
I do think Zep will have the legs to go the distance.

I'm going with Led Zeppelin.

I do respect Rush and admit to liking a prog rock sound, in general.

But, I think it is very hard to dispute the sheer monument that is Led Zeppelin. Though Rush and Led Zeppelin formed in the same year, the influence, reach, and raw popularity of Led Zeppelin eclipsed that of Rush. The difference in record sales alone is staggering. Rush has sold a little over 40 million. Led Zeppelin exceeds 300 million.

Walking up the Stairway to Heaven to drop a vote in the ballot box.
True zeppelin a huge monument but even though they both founded in 1968 , I never heard of Rush until 1974. They were young.
Page already had tons of experience recording and playing live. Zeppelin recorded and toured 5 years before Rush and Page had handled the music business enough to have a huge head start.

It is hard to weigh the difference of who is greater. Rush has a very large body of work that is original and not repetitive.
Musical exploration , a huge influence.

Desert island scenario, for Led Zeppelin I go with 2. Not because it is their best musical composition but it is an album that I am so close to. Every song is part of my music discovery as a kid.

For Rush this becomes difficult. 2112 is perhaps one of the greatest recordings they made but it’s not my only one. Caress of Steel , Fly by Night and then forward to Hemispheres. These albums all have raw power and dynamic intensity.
I don’t think anyone should vote before listening more carefully.

This is a tough one for me as I love both bands and that RUSH is more relevant for me today than Led Zeppelin, BUT...

I'm going to have to vote Led Zeppelin. Partly for sentimental reasons as they were the first proper rock band whose albums I purchased. I also can't ignore that I really don't like the back half of RUSH's catalog whereas LZ was more consistent during their admittedly shorter career.

I'm quickly clicking Led Zeppelin before I change my mind.

In 2010 , my wife and I went to the theater to see Rush “ Beyond the Lighted Stage”

The fans were rabid, it was like going to a concert. All these years had past but the fans are beyond loyal.
There is a fan based club that meets every year to remember the band and Neal.
Many of the members have seen Rush hundreds of times live.
