NGD! Yet another, SG, I’m afraid…

I’m sorry for not posting much here these days, but life has a way of getting in the way of a lot of things…

Anyway, I FINALLY had the chance to buy what I consider my true dream guitar (disregarding vintage stuff, that is…). A couple of days ago I had a Gibson Custom Shop ‘64 Standard delivered to my door. I bought it from Thomann (really great German company) as a B-stock. It had been returned by a customer and because of it the price had been lowered significantly. I have no idea why it was returned, because it looks absolutely flawless to me. Came with a great setup right out of the box, even completely in tune. So far I have yet to find anything to complain about. It sounds great and looks fantastic.

I suppose the alnico 3 magnets in the pickups might not be period correct (I guess 2 or 5 would have been used in the pre T-tops ina a vintage ‘64?), but the tone is really nice. I have a set of vintage pre T-tops in another guitar, and I’m thinking about trying them out in this one, but I porbably won’t. I might flip one of the magnets, though, to get some Peter Green out of phase tones in the middle position. But I’ll leave it stock for a while and just enjoy it as is.

Struggling a bit with posting pics, btw. Any tips on making it easy?

You know dude: that's the best SG.
Dicky Betts Model.
Has the white nylon bridge saddles?
Don't ever change the saddles to metal ones.
Don't ever mess with the pickups or do change them to T tops. The T tops were the best ones.
I used to have a 67SG just like that one.
