Ok the TTR tribe has spoken and over eight days we have weeded out the worst posers, wannabees and simp bands LOL!
Actually I'm sad to see a couple moved by the wayside, but this is fully the survival of the fittest, the law of tooth and fang.
Not gonna lie I was REAL surprised with Round #8 results seeing RATT chew TF out of Gun 'n Roses!
Little point in members of GnR getting rabies shots, I think the rat that bit 'em is in way more trouble.

Look at the remaining match-ups for Tier II! Whoah!

Great bands, plenty talent and dozens of damn cool songs. Flipped a coin to chose left or right - left won
Flipped again, top or bottom, and the DIO vs. Quiet Riot matchup is next up!

Alrighty fellas. I know probably most of you have wasted too much of your time and energy in support of your favourite bands over the years.
Bickering with siblings, bandmates, probably bartenders, cabbies, probation officers, skanky girlfriends too. Don't deny!

Really, it's about damn time. Over the next 5 days, this here Battle of The Bands is FINALLY gonna settle ALL those arguments.
I think maybe this'll probably become the universal authority on best hair metal band evah, because why not?
We are the stage rushin' maniacs, the salt of the earth, the real fans that bought the albums, dug the shows AND PLAYED many of the songs too.

I myself even took the time to work out the "We're a ship without a storm..." clean fingerpicked intro to Last in Line, probably outta some guitar player mag tab.
I'll bet many of you did too. "We. Are.... Cominggggggg.................. HOOOOOH-OH-OHMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE!
Then you smash that "A" chord double-pump and OH! The pure glory and magnificence! YEAH!
"We're off the to the witch! We may never, never, never come HOME!!!! But the magic that we'll feel is worth a lifetiimmmme....." Then Vivian's HARMONIC SQUEAL LICK
OH. MY GOD! Really, that wicked little elfman could so kill it though.

And Metal Health? Has those clean-ish chord bits in there too... "Well I'm an (A) Axe Grinder (B), Pile Driver... (C) Mama says that I'll never, never mind 'er etc...
"I'm insane, got no brain, Teacher says I'm one big pain..." Heck, I'll bet those words describe most of you dudes pretty much to a "T" right there.
The tension slowly ramps up... chugging mutes harder and harder, "Laser, Razor, Alligator, Louder, More Power! Strike the Hour.... "
Then WHAMMO! You smash that hard "A" chord sustained, for "BANG YOUR HEAAAAAAADDDDD!!!!!" BING-BONGGGGGG
METAL HEALTH WILL DRIVE YOU MAY-AD!!!!

Are you feelin' me brothers? Anyway it's all coming to a head right her pals, WE get to decide!
Bookmark this subforum, so you can send all links to the unbelievers.
There can be no denying the authoritative power of TTR!!!!

Instead of pics, this round I'm posting vids. This is about Rock 'n Roll music and performance, not photography!
Deeper cuts, live performance for you to enjoy.
Who wins this one team?

Alright, I'll be the first I guess.

I never listened to Dio. Wasn't my thing. I had friends who played his stuff and talked alot about him, so I do have a clue. Regardless, I have to admit that he was likely a larger influence than Quiet Riot.

Based on that factor, and not any personal fandom, I've got to give him the edge over Riot.

This seems like another lopsided match up, unfortunately. The fact is: Quiet Riot actually produced more albums than Dio but that doesn't mean anything when judging the quality of albums vs the quantity of albums.

Unfortunately for QR, they only a couple well rounded albums, where as Dio had at least 4 solid solo albums in succession. But most importantly, Dio held more memorable songs and riffs, where was outside of the Slade covers? QR only had a few, though the track Metal Health is badass still to this day

But, they're not gonna match Dio unfortunately, as his stuff was just too strong with Vivian Campbell, Vinnie Appice, Claude Schnell and Jimmy Bain

Dio wins this one heavily.

Another thing to consider: for me at least when I think about Dio the man, I don't just think of Dio the band. I also think about his work with Rainbow and Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell. Even some of the Elf stuff was pretty bangin. The guy just amassed an undeniable body of work.

I considered that too and then looked at the logo, so I guess we're discussing JUST the solo stuff? Because yeah, if we went with Rainbow, Sabbath and even Elf? He would win against this entire remaining field right now lol the solo section? It's a little tighter with some of the remaining bands, namely one, MAYBE two

Same here, never was in to Dio, except the last year or 2. My wife said to me “you don’t like Dio” well I didn’t but now I do.

Last Friday morning I got in the car. I was getting ready for that commute to work. As I put my car in gear the local radio station came on. All I heard was a wind howling on the speakers and I instantly knew the song!
I was dead surprised the radio station was playing Dio. I cranked it up to 11 and hopefully the cop would understand why I was speeding.
It made my morning!

Dio (the band) would rev me up no matter what I was doing. The power from RJD’s voice was nothing short of breathtaking. There was no other and there will never be another.

DIO takes my vote with ease.

I hear ya. If this plays out the way it looks, there is only one other band that would make me pause to consider my choice (Scorpions) and two I flat out can't stand (Dokken, Quiet Riot). So it'll probably be a little easier for me.

I'd love to see how this Battle of The Bands format would play out with all NWOBHM bands, or all '70s hard rock bands. That could be very interesting.

Agreed! Be cool to see a big show down with all of the titans from roughly 1975-1984
