VS Warrant

You'd think by the size of the photos I chose I favour one over the other, but these two bands were almost completely off my radar in the 80's.
I felt like Dokken was basically simp music, before simps were a thing, but only think because of Don. George was pretty badass.
Warrant? I guess that one chick in that video was pretty dang hot, amirite? Never saw either band, didn't own one record. Don't even know
the name of the guitar players. Other than that? I'm going to have to do a little listening homework later tonight to help decide.

It's whatever you like, my brothers. So tell us here which you favour, argue why, and let get over this round as quick as possible LOL
And remember, the winner of this round takes on Crue

Happy friday!

This one is easy. Shouldn't even give a reason but I will lol

You have Warrant on one hand, who Im sorry: absolutely sucked ass lol besides Uncle Tom's Cabin? I can't think of one song of theirs I really liked. Guess it was the end of the hair metal days right before Grunge took over. If I had one positive to say? Well, they had Bobbie Brown in the Cherry Pie video lol

Then we have Dokken! They should win because of George Lynch alone but they also had some great albums such as Breaking The Chains and Tooth and Nail. The next two: Under Lock and Key, and Back For the Attack were decent enough. Mick Brown was a good drummer, Jeff Pilson was a great bassist and songwriter and Don Dokken had a great range too, though yeah, a pretty simpy guy!

Hands down: Dokken. Take a hike Cherry Pie!

Happy friday!
Don Dokken , payed his dues. When he was in a band called Airbourne before Dokken the drummer from Ratt Bobby Blotzer was also in that band and played the south coast in So Cal. Don played guitar and sang. I think it was Jaun Crosier on Bass. Don had a red Ibanez Destroyer with a custom whammy bar exactly like Uli Roth’s Whammy bar.

I am regurgitating this for those who had not heard it before. Again , I was about 17 hangin out at Euphoria land ( Euphoria 3 piece band)
I watched Don in around 1977 or 1978 play Euruption note for note with no amp and he nailed it. No you tube, no tab and it was a current relevant amazing song.

Yikes. Absolutely hate both bands. Not hard rock, not sure what to call the pablum they both made. Just a horrible time for music.

That diatribe over, Dokken wins solely on the back of George Lynch, who was/is amazing even if I couldn't stand the band he was in.

Must be 78 as it wasn't released till Jan 78.
Don played it? Wow!

So, @TVvoodoo , just a little request: after we're done with all of these matchups, we need to do the matchup that I teased earlier. That is, we need a Warrant vs. Poison matchup as a runner-up contest, or something.

Warrant and Poison are about as similar of a matchup that I can think of - both put out that '80s, hair-metal cheeze! (spelled with a "z" on purpose!)

Just a thought for further entertainment!

Warrant vote? Eww ..ban risk. :ugh:

Dokken for me even though I was never crazy about Don. Too feminine-ish. My buddy in high school lived for Dokken and I was Motley Crue boy.

Should say Jannie Lane was a great singer even though rough times seemed to take that before they then took him. I do like their ballads and I think his voice really cranks inside of them. Yea, overall I could not stand that wave that came out of LA. They were clearly at the bottom of the talent barrel, IMO. To Warrant's credit things got much worse than them.

We've got a Warrant vote.

I admire the individuality.
I always felt that way about Jack the Ripper too. Lol.

Kiddin' :D
