V.S. Skid Row, a band I know virtually nothing about, I think they were maybe kind of late to the party overall?
I know they had that one melodramatic song 18 and Life? Maybe another slow clinger thing. I think by that
time I'd moved on from hair bands onto other things

I recall the singer Sebastian Bach is it? A pretty darn good singer. Or a singer who was good 'n pretty,
however way you want to look at it. Maybe they rocked too, but could they compete with a hurricane?

I think maybe this is a battle of hard earned street cred vs marketing/timing
Could be wrong. I'm sure you fellas will fill me in. Y'all know more than I do.

The scorpions are one of my all time fave bands, and they have such a long successful history along with plain kick ass tunes in different decades. The Sorps by a mile for me.
Ps the Sails Charon is perhaps my fave song also. Uli!!!!
 
You guy can post vids of fave tracks here to push your case. why not make this a celebration of these bands?

Okay, in the first two rounds, I was not very serious...I was just having some fun and being a little silly.

I'm going to try to be just a touch more serious. But, as always, read my signature block: "I reserve the right to be fickle and change my mind at any time."

Now that I have some disclaimers out of the way, my vote is for the Scorpions.

The Scorpions have sold over 110 million albums worldwide, whereas Skid Row has sold under 9 million.

Also, there is that unforgettable riff to Rock You Like a Hurricane.
 
Skid Row during the Sebastian Bach days, were an incredible band with a heavy sound and a truly gifted singer. The debut was amazing, storming out of the gate with Youth Gone Wild, 18 And Life and I Remember You. Their follow up, Slave To Grind, actually is the FIRST metal album to the debut at #1 and it definitely took things even heavier. A forgotten great album was Bach's last:Subhuman Race.

But, we're going against the Scorpions and that has to go in their favor. The Scorpions literally have 3 different eras: Psychedelic Rock with Michael Schenker on Lonesome Crow, Hard Rock/Early Metal with Uli John Roth, and then classic Metal with Matthias Jabs. So this is a band you can find a ton of different styles from.

Their era from Lovedrive to Savage Amusement is probably their most popular and made some killer songs, but I kinda dig the In Trance to Taken By Force era a lil more for some reason.

Anywho: Scorpions win this one for me

Yes sadly. Put Skid Row up against almost any others of these. SB voice is just sick good.
But the Scorps huge catalog kills anything else. Popularity means zero to me but the Scorps take this. Sadly.

No doubt.
We know all these bands for a reason - they all made some fantastic music.
I have nothing negative to say about Skid Row, but..., 1st round vs. the Scorpions?
Ouch.
