I’ve been watching these for a while and with the Marshall being sold to the Chinese thread it pushed me over the edge.

Happy New Silver Jubilee Day. Arrived today, it’s a 1987 2555 (100w) in mint condition. Jeez does it get loud ! The clean channel is very articulate in hearing all the individual notes of a chord. The lead channel goes from almost no gain to full on chugging.

Oh man, the mother load ! Sweet!

Congratulations on a very cool amp… . Looks like it’s in decent condition. Maybe it’s completely original, except for the tubes. Which also means that those original LCR filter caps are beyond their rated service life. 37 years is a long time for those. Don’t forget the pair of E-caps inside for the bias supply too.

The caps were my first thought to get replaced. They shipped the unit with the 4 power tubes out and individually wrapped. What I found interesting is there are absolutely no marking or numbers on the tubes.

That could be the best amp to cover just about any era of rock . I have wanted one for a while but in my reality it won’t happen. Congrats !

Post some pics of those tubes. Maybe someone around here can identify them.

And if you do a cap job, you might as well replace the screen resistors for each of the power tube sockets.
Here’s just a zoomed in shot of the above pic. I have to do homework on finding the caps next. It did not have its footswitch either. I assume it’s a single button one.

I have to do homework on finding the caps next.
It's typical 70's and 80's Marshall stuff with 3 dual cap cans at 50uf\50uf-500vdc, and a pair of axial 10 uF capacitors.
I like the ARS caps. They look identical to the old LCR caps and perform solid. Here is ARS's Ebay site:

You still will need a pair of the 10 uF - 150 V caps (Sprague Atom). You can get everything at Valvestorm, including the 1K/5watt power resistors for the screens if you choose to replace those too.

Here's the 2 page schematic:
