When he started playing 'Parasite' my mojo started flowing hard. So cool.

He's sick man! Just fantastic. But it does show that a Tele can do more than spanking clean. My beef with that other video was it did not show off the versatility of that particular guitar. At least play something with a bit of grind, pull the pot up, and rock out a bit. Video shows a one trick pony.Geoff, not doggin onn your comment, just impressed to heck. John 5 sure is a shredmaster on his Tele's.

John 5 Can’t play like this with Motley Crue, it would be too much!
If you’d like to see what John 5 has got for tone and skill, check out the video link on the end screen! He plays Van Halen, Pantera, Rush, Metallica, AC/DC,...youtube.com
That's better, it shows more than one side to it. Add more dirt at the end and let it sing. Certainly different from your stock old school Tele.Watch this video to its completion, he shows the tones you can get out of these pickups, and its true i can tell you, that's what made me want this guitar, plus a few other things.
Pull out that switch , just like having humbuckers, sounds great!
Yup, thanks for the pic add, fitz. It is nice knowing the previous owner too. He is a local pro who I know plays good gear. I will not derail the thread here too bad. More details to come in the V players thread.

Pulled the plug or pulled the trigger ?IN case there is too much Tele talk, I pulled the plug on a V deal with the fella I got my PRS Santana SE from.
'07 Faded Cherry V with Black Winter pups and a Brown Gib case. I should hopefully get it once home from Cleveland next week.
Trigger lol thanks DonOPulled the plug or pulled the trigger ?
Believe it or not, I think that the only guitars I have any issues with are some PRS models. The 2x2 of these Teles seems like a no brainer for crossover Gib style players to adapt to.Yup, I really like how versatile it is. Only think I don't like on "traditoinal" Teles is the control layout, one big reason I fell for the Tele Deluxe (same control layout as a LP). Looks like Norm scored a very cool guitar.

I wonder if you tried a PRS like a single cut with the 2x2 control layout if that would leave just the pickups being a point of not hitting the sweet spot for you?I just can't get comfortable on PRS' for some reason. I really wanted to love them but they just don't work for me, not completely sure what it is. And the stock pickups are very sterile sounding - an easy thing to remedy, sure, but just something to factor in also.

Gball, are you still ( forgive my memory) playing mostly gainy tone like from those Mesa Dual/ Triple Rect type amp stuff? As I researched Black Winter pickups, the sound examples I found all made me think that they are right up your alley.
I do seem to remember that last statement..Yup, mostly high-gain stuff. I have high output pickups in most holes in most guitars, and always open to trying new things, but I can say that I have never met a SD pickup that I kept around for very long.
I suspected so.One of the PRS' I owned wasn SC245, figured it would be pretty much the closest thing to a Les Paul, so would seem comfortable and familiar. Was a nice guitar but never delivered the goods the way a Gibson does. And the knobs are funky - they are not in the usual Gibson-style layout and I found them very frustrating to use.

Thanks Gary, it suits my style of playing . Finally Fender came out with a rocker that just has Tele looks. I was blown away after i played it at the shop a total of two hours. I was in the shop way in the back surrounded by guitars and amps, nobody could see me playing. 2 guys that were in the store shopping heard the music and approached me.
They said when they saw me playing , they couldn't believe it was a Tele. They said man that sounds good!
