NMFXD - Boss ME-90

So, I saw a multi-fx board on the local CL (Line 6 Pod X3 Live) and got my GAS riled up.
Got me thinking about running my MOSFETs downstairs in 5CM as 100w power amps with some amp sims and a boatload of effects on tap.
Watched some vids about the Pod and saw how you need to set it all up through a tiny monochrome LED screen - my brain said NFW.

I always liked the ME-80 I had a few years ago with all the individual knobs, but the output options limited it to front-end or loop only - no 4CM/5CM possible, and not very high tech.
Checked out the new Boss ME-90 and it has a lot of the newer functions of the high-end Boss boards, with a knob interface that's almost identical to the ME-80.
Currently $299 new (on sale), but I snagged this off GC the other night and it showed up today.
(no box or anything, but I'd say better than "good" condition after a little cleaning)

Also ordered the Bluetooth/MIDI adapter so I can run the Boss Tone Studio app from an Android tablet.
Got the color touchscreen interface on an 8" tablet and the analog knobs on the board. :yesway:

I put the ME-90 on the 3210 in 5CM - can run the amp with channel blend or bypass the preamp to 11 amp sims.

Got the tablet on the 5100 on the other side of the room and can control all the ME-90 functions from a touchscreen.
This amp is running as a slave off the ME-90 2nd output with whatever is coming out of the 3210 and/or ME-90.

Just tap a setting to turn on/off, or hold to drill down to knob level control.

Still screwing around with all the settings and finding stuff I like, but I think it's all functioning correctly.

Can it be set to run some fx thru 1 output to loop and some out main to go in front?
IE delay etc runs out to loop and OD is out front?
The four cable method (4CM) does exactly that with a MFX with its own loop send / receive.

(pic is a GT-10, but the connections are all the same)
I'm running the ME-90 Output-R to the 5100 loop return - i.e. five cable method (5CM).

You can even change the effects order to a certain degree, but the Boss software kinda does it automatically.
Preamp, Comp/FX1 and OD/DS sections go in the front of the amp, Mod, EQ/FX2, Delay & Reverb go in the amp loop.
Pedal is assigned automatically to front or loop depending on what you set it for (Vol/Wah or Mod rate, etc.).

So in the case above, the OD etc would have to go to the ME ext loop send thus ending up in amp input. This can be set internally?

It just does that when you cable it like this.
The preamp sims (if on) and front-end stuff comes out the MFX loop send to the amp input.
The amp loop send routs everything from the front end & preamp back to MFX loop return.
Adds in TBE type loop effects and the whole signal comes out the output(s) to the amp loop return(s).

Nice!!
The Zoom do not do this.

Congratulations on the new piece of gear.
Many options for the tones you chose.
Thanks,
Been messing around with it most of the morning.

Figured out how to set it to come on in manual mode, but with the settings I want saved.
The tone lab app lets you configure options that aren't on the board knob defaults - more amps and effects.
I changed the amp to a JC-120 & set the chorus to a stereo out to the 2 amps.

Might do something completely different tomorrow.
This gizmo keeps getting cooler the more I f**k with it... :yesway:
