JHS ends Ross Line of FX , all pedals $79

Great price and I am a huge JHS fan. I have not tried the re-released Ross pedals though, but if they sound anything like the original ones I had way back when (distortion and phaser at various times) I would be throwing $79 away. I wish him the best with it though.

I have no experience with these pedals, I see you do. He's selling them for about $2 under his cost. Maybe there will be some members interested, i don't know. But i saw this and thought i would put it here.

They were just very generic, bland sounding. I played with a guy that had a Ross amp at one point and it sounded really sterile and...boring, too.

I have been sorely tempted to get the fuzz. It's hard to go wrong at $79. But I have so many pedals already and have been trying hard not to buy more. Still, the voice in my ear keeps whispering "do it!"

Starts Friday 12AM CST
What did I do wrong?
Simple: there's 500 people making the exact same effects already.
Compressor, phaser, etc etc..they are all the same and there's nothing new at all.
It's just the same old thing.
What's the motivation for buying the same old beat to death effects pedal?

This is what I want to see: something fresh and original. Now people will buy it.

Since MXR created these concepts when I was a kid...there has been almost no innovation at all.

I follow JHS as a fan of Josh and his humor, r&d and marketing skills. As a even smaller gear business-dude many of his insights are super real for me. I also respect his reverence for gear history in his sector and what I perceive as honesty and integrity, though I know some might argue that.

I know how difficult it is to bring ideas and innovation and try to constantly rejig old ideas to develop fresh products... some of you see I too can get terrifically excited about as possible gamechangers, almost to an obsessive level. Then, for various reasons, watch it fall a little flat. Developmental effort and costs are a fair bit easier for me, bit it still stings for sure. When I make a mistake it might cost me up to a thou, for him it could run into a mil.

It's hard to not feel the disappointment and try to rationalize/ realize the market is always right. Having to keep resetting and re-thinking to move the ball forward isn't easy... But part of the fun IS the challenge. Knowing I am equipped to be able to keep doing that, building off a strong base of tested designs and loyal W-H warriors (thank you!) keeps my head in the game.

I agree, Voodoo! Iike Josh and his humour. He seems to be very genuine and often pulls back the curtain to give us a look inside the industry.
