HX Stomp Driver in W11 / Solved sort of

Now that that is done , my idea is to finally give up on windows. Clean the drive ,sell the laptop and buy a Mac Mini.
I know that bastard done would approve.
Kick out windows and hopefully other things come next month. lol

Sometimes, I think I should get a Mac just for my tech needs. I'd keep the Windows machine for general stuff, but use the Mac for more technically-aligned tasks.

I'll be interested to read your thoughts once you get the Mac and start working with it and your HX Stomp.

I should do that just to have the current upgrade available. I just get very tired of the cycle that they force on you. There is very little value other than world chose the system to use. I read about a guy that was in IT and he didn’t use Linux only because it takes more time to get it to work.
The phrase he used was “why bother when there are systems that are already made to work out of the box”

My answer to that is windows has been hit and miss since 7. It doesn’t do what it should do for me. His other point was “people who don’t get paid to write software are not going to do as well as the paid programmers “ That is also false. The people that program Linux do it for the same reason we make our own music. It brings them joy. A sense of creating something.

Linux allows complete control with out corporate money influence.
Maybe windows pushed this release even though it’s not right because share holders want to see dividends.

Mac is not bad. It’s always been over priced (corporate)

It will be weird. There will be things to learn. It will feel different. But your USB hardware should work when you plug it in.

On another note, ironically my wah pedal I bought specifically for the HX stomp more than a year ago now works since the latest update from line 6.
To bad the driver doesn’t.

Shut off the firewall and all the security devices.
Turn the anti virus off. Turn all security off.
Load the driver and re-start.
Is the driver working now? Turn the firewall back on last.

Do you have a Dell computer? You probably need to load "Dell software manager" first.

It's helpful to get into windows power settings so you can set it for high performance.
The video and processing will be better.
It's helpful to get into the device manager so you can turn all the (USB or other) power saving features off.
The default modes will try to save power and hinder performance. Turning all the power saver features off improves the thing quite a bit.

I did see something I read somewhere about the usb power saving mode. I might try that but like I said before I turned every security feature off (all) Including “Core Integrity”
It does Not work.

Do you know how to access the compatibility settings?
Not really but 11 is a fail for me , so I created a recovery drive and I am ready to download the windows 10 to install the reversion.
The only other option I see is to wipe the drive and sell it.

The new Mac Mini M4 is out and I can get 16ram 256 ssd for under $500
Mac is not so stupid to strand users with a useless system.
I only use the laptop to record and if I didn’t have all of those plugins with internet connections I would not even connect to the internet.

Don’t forget to have, at least, one external drive for an audio data destination…maybe a second for other stuff, like the big virtual instrument sample libraries.

I don’t know if I’d go that far…they’ve had issues in the past with OS updates. They usually get resolved fairly quick though. I’ve not run into any, but have read about them…usually, warnings pop up around the web when a new OS version gets released. It’s good practice to run a few quick searches regarding your favorite software and hardware compatibility with the newest OS release, before you install the major OS update.

One of the reasons why I’m no longer a plug-in junkie. I learned from my experience with the end of XP. Also…I got over the fact that Reaper plugins may not look pretty, but once you dig into them they are pretty darned useful…Even the JS (JesuSonic) plugins…some written by other users.

Ha! So I went over to the Reaper stash house, to check out the JS effects stash, and found that there is a ton of stuff to sift through. Though some of it may be kinda “niché”…

…but if you ever need a Geiger counter effect…. :rolf: ….well…it’s available.

Last download I did and there were several updates for Reaper , I got everything. It’s like 15g. More than I need but you could do everything with in Reaper start to finish.

The only reason I care about the Stomp driver is I like HX edit instead of fooling with the tiny Stomp screen. That and the tones on the stomp are better than any of the other stuff I have downloaded and paid for.

Then if that’s the case Linux would be the only logical solution. Free , so when it does screw up at least you didn’t pay for it.
I know there are issues getting software or plugins to be compatible.
What is beautiful if most people who build the distro’s are very close to them.
None of the developers from the big companies are accessible from a forum.
Mixcraft works with Linux. I have not tried it yet in Linux but it’s a decent DAW.

iB's, ..try this..

To disable Core Isolation in Windows 11, you can do the following:
  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Type Core Isolation in the taskbar
  3. Select Core Isolation from the results
  4. On the Core Isolation page, turn off the toggle for Memory integrity
  5. Restart your device for the changes to take effect

Yes, well no sir but thanks. I did that a while back.
It’s years since I wrecked a perfectly good windows computer until now.
It is wiped and hopefully I will boot in to 10 in a little while.

Bumber. At least you got it working in 10. I can't count how many times I used to reinstall the OS due to something or another. :(
