Happy Hump Day fellow strap addicts and aficionados!
Today I'm losing hair LOL! The fellow who ordered the Mid-Evil and Tombstone straps above pretty much immediately ordered two more Mid-Evils when those arrived.
They are pretty good! Anyway, he's got some crazy gats, and likes to match 'em up, strap-wise. Now, I'm not afraid of any challenges, but some are harder than others, gotta say!
Here's what I'm dealing with:
National Pioneer model dobro, in a what looks like "moldy curdled cream" - I mean all guitars are beautiful
in their own special way, and I'm sure this one sounds pretty much like it looks when I think about it
Then this next one, a quilty Taylor T5 in one of the kookiest finishes I've seen,
they call "Grapevine." Me personally? Not something that would jump off the wall at me,
but if all guitars were vintage bursts, what a boring world that would be!
Basically looks to my eye like a lavender to red burst? Got it's own special charm that's for sure.
I was to embarrassed to ask the dude, maybe you guys know... why two strap buttons?
Anyway, these are what I got going on right now... or had as of late yesterday, not the best pic
I thought the red was going to be perfect when I sent the pic him earlier today, but then he asked me to darken it down a lot, and more texture because he figured it was too light. So, I'm in the midst of that right now, probably have it completed tomorrow. Not real sure about the nubuck coloured strap for the dobro either, but I think it's gonna work ok. He wanted "distressed" but I only have so many kinds of leather in stock here. I relic'd it up a bit, sandpaper, rasp...added a little shoe polish to darken some bits, add to the texture. But like I told him, one fellas "distressed" is another fellas "destroyed. "
anyway, I'm so glad to be able to share these with all y'alls. These kinds of challenges are pretty fun, even though a bit stressy too.
