Why Did You Want A Telecaster In The First Place?

It was was Keefer that made me want to buy my Tele Style. I didn't have one up until 3 years ago, then decided to have one custom made. I always really liked the body style, and the shape of that headstock, better than any other guitar period. I appreciate the comfort and size of the body, its not large and its so darn comfortable on my lap. I always wanted one, but couldn't find the one i wanted, but now i have one, and its not going anywhere. My #1 played guitar.

I never did want one.My father worked in the sawmills for a day job.He played the Eagles,Legion, beer joints on the weekend with a Tele,he had a few different ones.Me i wanted a SG like Tony Iommi or a Les Paul like Page hahahhahahah.I do like them now even though i dont have one.

I didn't. Initially even less than I wanted a Strat. Then I bought a pretty awful looking kit Tele.... sanded it to bare wood and refinished it. Inexpensive and a decent guitar. Then I bought a Tele body with the idea of adding a neck and all the other goodies. So, ultimately I'll have two. Neither one says Fender on the headstock.

If you want to dive down the rabbit hole of building a guitar, the Tele is a great place to start.
Simple design and relatively hard to screw up.
The thinline was a little more complicated, but the burl top was a $99 kit. (shown a few mods later...)

I blame @DirtySteve completely. A few years back (before he fell down the LP rabbit hole) he was building Tele style's and they were awesome. I found a used Players Tele at GC and snapped it up. Had never seen one that had 3 pickups (Tele neck, Strat Middle and a Humbucker in the bridge).

I built one similar, except it had a regular Tele bridge (Micky has it now). These were the first 2 I built.

I've been gassing for a tele ever since I was at this show. The recording doesn't do his tone justice.

I don’t think I ever thought much about them. I knew the guys in Status Quo played ‘em, but they were still the Country guitar to me until I saw Danny Gatton a couple times, and saw what could be done. So I got my first one in about ‘85, and have had a couple more since, but they are just not for me. I can’t get comfortable on one and in stock form the pickups are useless to me. I really like the way they look and in the right hands (John 5, Richie Kotzen) they slay, but it’s not likely I will own another.
