So, uh yeah, Ticketmaster. Wanna discuss?

So, today after years of getting screwed over by Ticketmaster more times than I can really even remember, they gave me the VIP level of screw jobs. I was trying to get 4 tickets to Oasis in East Rutherford,NJ on 8/31/2025. You have to use their stupid little app now, so I do as I have before. I got in the "waiting room" that holds you up for about 25mins before dropping you into the "queue". I got in at #930, within 5 mins? I was #1 and got to where I could look and purchase.

Immediately, I found 4 seats in the middle upper center for about $155 a piece. Awesome! I click accept, I click purchase and I click confirm. They give you about 10mins to do this, I had about 8 minutes to spare. The site just sits there, little wheel spinning, saying "please wait". After the time expired? It kicked me out and sent me back to the queue at #10. I got back in and every ticket I clicked? "This ticket is sold". I reload and back to #8. Get in? "All tickets are Limited Viewing ". It kicked me out again and this time sent me to #106,689 to which i get a message " All tickets sold"

At this same exact time, over at StubHub, SeatGeek and Vividseats? There's tickets in the same area I had in my hands virtually and they were now $500 a piece. So people were literally buying them and flipping them within seconds.

See this is my issue: I don't care if I try to get tickets and a shows sold out, it's a case of " Better luck next time" but when I got the tickets there, ready to go and they pull this? How's that not theft at worst but discriminatory at best? It's immoral

The fact is, the government allowed the merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster and thus approved a monopoly because who else is there? No one but the resellers who are tied with Ticketmaster. In what way is an entity such as this legal let alone ethical?

I can't tell you how pissed off I really am right now

I miss the old days. We camped out i front of the location till the doors opened. Then we all rushed the counter.
At least that was fair! Everyone had a shot if you fought for it

As for the site just loading? Turns out, that was on Ticketmaster. They claimed " Due to excessive customer purchasing, some sales were stalled." No, that kinda $hit is intentional. See if I were to purchase those $380 a piece tickets initially? Probably wouldn't have had an issue. But try to buy the cheap to mid price? Oops! "Our servers are down"

I blame the band as much as Ticketmaster too though. They offered 8 measly north American dates, more -less causing this. Even TOOL As big as they are, came to poor ol WV a few months back. Not expecting big names around here but definitely more of a market than just 4 venues in 8 dates

Besides the high prices, crap customer service, gouge-o-matic parking fees, the sound systems at these venues suck too.
I came to a conclusion after spending $$$ not really enjoying it.
They often do, yes. TOOL In the Charleston Civic Center surprisingly had a clear PA system as did the dreaded Dave Matthews in UVA Arena. Meanwhile, saw the Stones at Steelers Stadium? Mush

Last time I used Ticketmaster Jeff Beck show I printed out the credit card receipt pick up tickets at the door they didn't want to give them to me
30 min of fighting with them showed the receipt credit card used and ID management told me they were sold @ $400.00 mark up
I paid $50.00 each and did get in the show it was sold out

Sounds about right! How is this kinda stuff remotely legal? That would be about like you going to a grocery store, waiting forever to get what you need, grabbing a loaf of bread, getting up to the register and then either they A) say " We're sorry, the price is no longer $3 its $12 as you picked it up or B ) they wait till you purchase it with it in your very own hands and say " We're sorry, this is sold out"

If you did either of these to a customer in a place like that, you'd either be fired on the spot or you'd have a police officer coming in and asking what the hell was going on? But meanwhile in Ticketmasterville aka the Fourth Reich, this is standard practices.

Why i stay home.BUT,you did pick a great band to try to see.Love Oasis.Sorry Mike,id have smoke rollin out my ars by now also.
Appreciate it bud! Yeah I just wanted to see them once before I never got the chance again. My folks never let me go see them when I was younger and then they never toured near me as I got older, then they broke up lol

Guess I'll look at the album covers

I gave up on that big concert game long ago. Unless the right opportunity arises, I can’t be bothered stressing about it.
That said, the last big shows I went to see were Rush, and Tool.
I was fortunate enough to catch Tool close by. I regrettably never got to see Rush but that's my fault: had the chance and said " I'll catch em next time" and then Neil died. Same thing with Motorhead. Guess that's why I fight like hell now to get a ticket Incase it ever happens again

Sorry about that, Mike. I swear I'd be in a rage ..especially with the repeats. Fortunately for me I have no interest in seeing concerts anymore so I guess I'll never have to F with them. Hope things work out one way or another for you. See if you can dig up and experience a live sex show instead. That could be interesting. Lol

Well if I ever wind up in Tijuana, who knows? Lol

Stopped trying to take in concerts decades ago. Last one may have been in the 90s. Mostly, we got to see anyone we really wanted to see. I didn’t see Rush either…. But then I didn’t really become a big Rush fan till 10-15 years ago. By then…. I’d have needed a 2nd Mortgage to go.

Also. I never stood in line for a concert ticket. Just used speed dial and kept o till I got in. For one concert I started with Ticketmaster in Davenport IA. Busy signal. Moved west to Cedar Rapids. Same thing. Then Des Moines. Same. Finally Omaha. Scored. Took me less than 10 minutes to land good seats to a show that sold out in 15….. and never took my feet off the desk. But then. This was back in the day when Ticketmaster was a respectable business.

I miss even the days of going to Disc Jockey or Camelot Music in the mall and buying your tickets there. Was incredibly simple

To make matters so much worse? I got the most bizarre phone call a couple hours ago. A private number called, guy began calling my name, said my home address, described my house and then informed me that not only was he going to track me down and do violence but also hack all my credit the next time I go make a purchase. Had to call the cops and make a formal report. Turns out the guy is some freak job I've never met in person but was on the KNAC radio Facebook page and targeted me for his little plan there because I commented on post. He also posted photos of my house there as well. How he got all my info? You're guess is as good as mine but it seemed pretty credible.

Just keeps getting better man......

Did not have a Camelot Music in the Quad Cities (Davenport/Rock Island). We did have a Disc Jockey. The biggy for us was called Coop Records. Never really frequented them as we had a small mom and pop TV and Appliance store in my little western Illinois town of 3600. They kept a pretty decent supply of the current stuff us idiot kids wanted to buy. Spent a fair bit of cash in that place.
