Pair Celestion g12k-85

The made in England Celestions are the best ones. The only ones worth buying.
My guitar player friend bought 70/80s from China, and I learned the lesson.
I love the UK Marshall Vintage & t75's have luckily kept around .But kinda like them all. What i have experienced on my China greenbacks, t75,v30's i have. Once broken in they get much more like the ones we favor. The real noticeable dif to me is the China versions seem to have a slightly "modern" response, its like seasoning on food maybe... each new recording uses what fits the taste best.

This is what concerns me:

Normally, a speaker moves in / out approximately 10-15mm (this is called "excursion"). I'm just guessing the distance.
But the 70/80 has excursion of approximately 3-5 mm. it barely moves in / out. It's almost locked in place.

Which drew me to this conclusion: the 70/80 speaker appears to be assembled wrong.
It appears to me that the cone / spider is glued together in the wrong location.
Thereby, preventing the speaker from moving in / out. The wrong excursion; too short. Less than 1/3 of normal.

My feeling is that efficiency of the speaker will be reduced and cooling of the voice coil will be compromised.
The voice coil depends on in / out movement to circulate fresh air around the wire coil windings.

IMHO 70/80 is lower level type speaker in Celestion lineup for generic mass use. Every one i encounter ..out it came after due diligence giving it a chance. Your explanation is pretty fitting as palm muting with decent head, bottom them out quick !

My Express amps sounded best with Celestion green back 25's made in England 4 x 12
and have a made in England new Marshall 2 x 12 with G 65 cream backs used with the Express amp they hide the harshness of the Express amp
The speaker I use on my bench when tuning amps is a Jensen C12N made in Italy bad stiff poor sounding but if I can make that amp sound good
with the Jensen speaker it can only get better.

Tim's using Celestion speakers in this new video should be using EVM12L his low notes flab out
