Yeah man, way worth the patience & figuring out where wanted to be in the mix. Managed some quick play through on a super busy work day. What really got me was the 1/4 power switch & how it saturates just right. These recent amps have really taught me how good they are at hard rock. The Peaveys are so present in a mix. Quick unboxing & play through

Nice score, congrats. Good riff and tones.

The 40w combo is 2 / 6L6’s . The one I played was imho amazing. Honestly the best tone for my playing style.
I want a head and I don't mind the watts as I have a good attenuator up to 50 watts. It's the actual size of the head that matters to me. But it seems the 40 watters only come in a combo, I don't want a combo especially with top mounted controls, I hate that.

I don’t care for the top layout either, I edited the post because they are available in EL34.
I’m not sure why they don’t have the smaller head. Seems like that would sell.
Somone would possibly put the amp in a head cab.

Gibson LP with SD59 & Antiquity in standard E. Few hours flew by just kept playing. The dynamics..the pic attack, from chugga to blues to edge of breakup tone all on your guitar volume & tone knobs. Crazy good amp, maybe the most responsive amp ever played & a lot of very good ones have been through here.

When the amp becomes an an extension of you without thinking while you are playing..this thing set it at noonish with presence & resonance to taste & it rewards touch players for sure.

The usable saturation on 1/4 power is incredible.. gain is usable whole travel of knob & gradually adds it in.

This & the OG 5150 really makes it hard to play other amps ya have..in brutal honestly they both own the mix with out forcing & i dont use pedals like most do with these amps. Its all there in the amps natural circuit on its own.

and it has reverb & boost(which is also gradual) its a very user friendly amp.

It does bedroom tones look at where i record lol

serious note it is excellent at very low level.

This thing is Marshallaized big time !! It is what was looking for. Able to nail so many songs i recorded on my Blag Flag & JMP 50 amps.
I am on chan 1 mostly with gain pretty low & use that boost switch barely on to just bump up the saturation. I cant stop playing this but i also have the right cab with it.

Just did the gain on low & power tube section up on master. It responds very well like i am used to in M circuits. The tone comes up fuller with MV up and gain can stay low to have super articulation in the notes but the power tubes getting some aggression & fullness coming in especially with attack. very dtnamic responding amp

I think designer did some great homework from 6l6 version & tweaked a few things to make this thing way more than a drop tune metal amp.

same principle as this hack that i made the CR a headView attachment 103139View attachment 103140
But the tube orientation is different on the top control combo amps, usually…the tubes mount on the side below the controls…like the Classic 30, for instance….I was going to butcher one of those into head form. However, when I measured how far down the cabinet to cut, to maintain tube clearance, I was only going to be able to take around six inches off the bottom of the 1x12 combo. That would make for a huge head, physically. Shifting the orientation so that the controls are in front would yield a shorter height, but very deep head cabinet.
