What were you doing when you were 10 years old?

When I was 12....

So 10 years old. Been trying to figure that one out. I was 9 when JFK was shot. So country was probably still recovering from that. Viet Nam was ramping up. Beyond that…. Most likely doing whatever a 10 year old would be doing in the middle of nowhere Western Illinois.

I was not playing guitar. At that point. Hadn’t begun band and playing the trombone. That would have started in 6th grade.

I was learning how to fix bicycles and riding them all over Manassas VA.
I was also 1 year from my introduction to that green leafy substance that we don't talk about here
Pretty much the same exact thing, we were BMX before bmx but in So Cal.
Jumped off bolders and rode down mountains. Actually started riding mini bikes about that time and by 13 racing flat track.

Yeah BMX all the way here, we built a ramp/jump out of wood and the creek bank
It was the party spot.
Friends would hang around while "partying" and give us marks out of 10 for each ride
Other riders would try to mess you up sometimes
The only way to get a perfect score was to wreck

I started Violin at age 4 trained to be a concert master could read music before I could read words
at age 7 played a real Stradivari Violin got a standing ovation just the sound of that Violin changed my life
the part they don't tell you is practice 8 hours per day with private instruction I was playing with strings when the other kids were playing with their balls.

Football, baseball, clarinet, bikes and actually getting into Records & FM radio. Had Zep 1 &2, at that point & really followed rock progression seeking heavier & heavier..then after AIC-DOWN Pantera ect .bands like that hit their mark late 90's checked out with Nu metal appearing... am cool with slapping me in 1965-1999 music range & leaving me there with very much love for motown & funk of that era.

10 years old? I had no inclination that I would ever be interested in music. I didn't even listen to it.

I always did well in school. But, aside from that and chores, I spent most of my time playing in the woods, climbing trees, searching for crayfish and minnows in the stream nearby, catching butterflies, building snow forts and sledding in the winter, and generally doing stuff that created a lot of very dirty laundry.

I also read a lot. I liked reading.
