Well in my part of the world. People started setting stuff off…. Including the pro show in the town I live in….. a full week before the 4th. It’s still going on and it’s the 13th. So working out the math…. That’s about 21 “one days.”

That’d work for the neighborhood knot heads….. we have water on three sides of us and you know how sound travels across water. Mortars were just mentioned. Yep. Some of those booms are most likely a mile or better away…. Yet sound like they’re next door.

As I might have mentioned earlier, there was a guy in my old neighborhood who went to the federal penitentiary because he kept shooting off this actual cannon that could be heard a county away and rattled the walls of my house. When the ATF searched his place, they found so much illegal stuff that he went away for a looong time. His incarceration barely diminished the total noise in my ‘hood.
