Which guitar do you pick up first after you've been away?

But when I travel, I take this old beater with me... :)

I think that is best thing about strat's. I am not saying they aren't good guitars by saying this.....but they are guitars you don't worry about getting dinged up or worry the headstock is going to break off. Even on my Ibanez I worried about it because they seem thin at the headstock and of course SG's & LP's travel in a hard case at all times and not free of worry....but a Strat fogetaboutit' :) And well Tele's are Tanks!

Ok Y'all, Compare my Blackie's Fretboard to Kerry's.
Supposedly my guitar was supposed to be ebony with a Maple neck.

What do you think?

So RobV, U had a 3 knob too huh?

Was it stock with Bill Lawrences?
Mine is definitely an ebony fret board. It's completely painted red but I'm pretty sure it's a mahogany neck. I've confirmed my pickups are not Bill Lawrence but I believe some of the 3 knob specials came with them. I'm pretty sure mine are 1959 Les Paul Specials. AFAIK the 3 knob Specials were fairly limited run and seemed to vary year by year. I think they just used whatever parts they had available that year that were a little different from what they put into that year's regular special. That is just a guess based on the information I could find elsewhere on the Internet.

My situation goes like this: I like to have all my guitars hanging on the walls in the Room of Doom. But one guitar has to hang on a floor stand, cuz there's no room left on the walls. So, whenever I'm away for a few minutes, or a few days, whatever is on the stand is the first one I'll grab. They all take their turns, and they'll be on the stand for a week or up to a month.

Mine's a 1991. Mine has some of the nicest sounding pickups I've ever heard. They are Gibson 1959 Les Paul Reissue. They were in a few guitar's from the late '80s early '90s.
I think I remember reading Gibson moving on from the Bill L's around 90 or 91. Mine actually came with 2 neck pups in it instead of the normal set. It had been unmolested until I changed them to Super D's. Really cool guitars for sure!

Yeah they very well could be, I honestly don't remember everything I read or was discussed with them. I haven't had mine for a while now. I was actually contacted recently by the original owners wife asking if I still had it and she would like to buy it back. She was a few months to late....
