Which guitar do you pick up first after you've been away?

Ok Y'all, Compare my Blackie's Fretboard to Kerry's.
Supposedly my guitar was supposed to be ebony with a Maple neck.

What do you think?

So RobV, U had a 3 knob too huh?

Was it stock with Bill Lawrences?

I was away from home on business for four days. When I got home I couldn't wait to play my guitars. I picked up my SG Special and spent an hour or so before I turned to my other guitars. I realized this is always the first guitar I pick up when I've been away. What is your first guitar you play after you've been away?

Ya know, I kinda feel partly to blame for this as I remember encouraging Kerry to go for it when he was pondering buying this SG.
SO glad he did. They seem to garner a fond place in the hands of those who own them.

Yes it was a 1989 "Ferrari Red" SG Special. I forgot the guys name on The Gear Page or was it ESG or MLP fook. Anyway he use to work at the plant and painted a lot of these. They actually did use Ferrari paint. I would have to do some searching as it was along time ago but I am sure it's around. Mine was stock but the guy already had custom pickguards cut & everything to cut it over to cream so I bought some Super D's and put them in. Sent the Bill L's to RVA for 1 of his guitar projects :)

Also Chili that looks like the board on my 89' and it was indeed rosewood and the info I got from that guy was those were maple necks.

OOO Dang RobV,,,,,,,,,,, the Lawrences went to my buddy Ray.
That Ferrari red sure is red.

Now I know we had 2 Red ones and 2 Black ones here on the forum.
Mdubya has another black one here in Md.

Thanks, Rob. The neck on mine feels sooooo good to play, it is effortless. Me thinks it is rosewood too despite what the catalog said.
I could very well be wrong to as I am no expert but there is lighter colored ebony but I think mine was to brown to be ebony. Yours looks like it has a nice grain to it to.
