Curse you all!!!

I have 1 mic pre in a 500 series. That's a rabbit hole. I still need 1 module to fill the 3rd slot.

Ok, I actually DO have a project going on that may end up EP size but could grow to Album size. I'm old AF but I have a pop punk voice a lot of the time. I have certainly thought about a mic preamp for vocals but it never has risen to a level of importance that makes me open my wallet. But, CURSE YOU ALL, I'm thinking about preamps again. But........I own am M-Audio DMP3. I bought it for lunch money years back mainly to be able to add a couple of tracks to the number of XLR inputs.

Reading about cheap preamps I looked up my little preamp and it has a good reputation. I guess I will just try it.

Bye the way...............CURSE YOU ALL!!!

Regards,
Dado
The UA LA610 MK2 is a very versatile unit with tube preamp, EQ and a 1176 style compressor. Universal audio makes great stuff and even though it’s not cheap it’s still a big bang for buck bargain.

I’ve got that plugin, but it’s never been that useful to me. It may be more suited to someone doing everything in the box through an interface with little or no outboard analog gear in the path? I end up using it at first during a mix by just using a preset, but in the final mix I almost always take it off and use other plugins to get my sound. I probably should play with it more.

Agreed sir! The LA610 is a fantastic preamp…and in either LA610, or LA6176, can be an excellent “money channel”. Maybe not for beginners, but those that might be wanting something that easily comes together in a mix.

If you only have one preamp this one ticks all the boxes better than most, esp at the price. I think you can get a decent used one for around a grand. It’s simpler to operate than something like the Avalon which is twice as expensive but kinda does a lot of the same stuff.

Agreed! I found a couple of real bargains on UA 6176 units, a couple of years ago, and picked up the linking/synch’ing box for a song…compared to retail. These things kick a$$…could do a lot with just one.
I’d love to find a sweet deal on another! …Like a straight up LA610…would be sweet.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. LoL

I used it on Stipe's vocals for this mix. Three guys got to mix this. George Massenberg, CLA, and me. I did my mix after Michael rejected the other two. He said they didn't get it.

After Michael heard this, he said "That's it. You get it."

That’s really great! The recording, arrangement, mix, song, are all top notch! I have to give that plugin more attention! Thanks.
