Pelham blue P-90 SG.

Well, I've got my thin body Melody Maker with P90s, I don't think that would be much different, but it's a great suggestion. I think I need to get away from Gibson for this one.
Seemingly that means you're not a psychopath. I read somewhere that they don't yawn when someone else does, something to do with a lack of empathy or something.I deserve that, but you just wait, you'll see!

Someday brother, when your old and your back is all hunched over from the heavy-ass LP's, you'll thank me.![]()

No Strat! I'm thinking a good acoustic, or maybe a Charvel, EB, ESP or something...or a real Tele. So many choices out there. The problem with most guitars that fit my criteria is that they're strat shaped and I really don't want that.

So many options - truly the proverbial rabbit hole...or a real Tele.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I have to sell some stuff first. I was just thinking out loud. lolSo many options - truly the proverbial rabbit hole...
Vintage, Deluxe, Thinline, Nashville, Sigs, etc.
What kind of pup config, bridge & fretboard would be appealing?
Might need a new thread.![]()
You know I'm just yanking your chain. I do know the feeling well of getting The One that you've always wanted. I waited 30 years to get my White 70's Reissue Strat.I deserve that, but you just wait, you'll see!

I've done 8 or 9 Warmoth builds I lost track. Only 2 of them came out the way I wanted. One of them C-Grin has and this is my keeper.Go the DIY route ! I’m a Warmoth fan, so ya start with picking a body they have already finished so you get the look you want. Then custom order one of their necks to your spec. You buy all the hardware and pups and you then have a guitar you designed and wanted.
Here’s one of my earlier builds. I saw the body on their website, bought it, and then ordered a custom neck. This one has a Purple Heart fretboard.

The problem is, I don't "need" anything and I don't really know what I want next so I'm just going to not get in any hurry. It's never too early to start a plan.![]()
You know, I actually have another Warmoth Tele that I built. I like the guitar, but I did a short scale conversion neck on it and it never really sounded like a Tele to me. I ended up stealing the neck from it to put on the one I posted above. I always suspected it needs a real Tele neck, long scale and God forbid, a maple fret board. So many options - truly the proverbial rabbit hole...

Maybe Ebony would be a good alternative to maple? I really don't like maple fret boards, don't like playing them or the look.
It's a swamp ash body with Pure Vintage '64 pickups in it. The pickups in this pic are not in it anymore, I don't even remember what those were..

I don't think fretboard material is going to make it not sound like a tele, my Dragon Tele is rosewood.
I can't say scale length would change anything either, as my 3 teles are all 25.5" so I have no comparison.
Pickups are definitely part of the tele twang - those Vintage '64s should be spot on.
I swapped out the "custom" pups in the Dragon for Vintage Noiseless, and it still has the twang without intercepting NASA communications with the ISS.
My home builds have mini-hums in the Deluxe and Filtertrons in the Cabronita Thinline for some different tonal flavors, but I'd still call them tele-ish.
