Joe Walsh likes Carvin stuff

Intersting ---I have a low end Jackson with the bridge "right down on the body"

Love Joe--- hes a hoot

Yes, because like Joe, you want your guitar to stay in tune, and having the TOM "right down at the body" does that. Good thing they got his design input.

Hmmmm....I never had trouble with the Floyd on my '84 Destroyer staying in tune. However, I had a pair of hardtail Hamer standards that gave me tuning trouble...probably because of the string spread through the nut...?????

That video is 9 years old, but it's still interesting to watch again. Very entertaining to watch and listen to him talk and play. Joe is a full on gear whore, too. He likes a lot of different brands of guitars and amps.
Joe has the craziest guitar faces I've ever seen:

"I cant even get Gibson to do this for me. I don't know why I didn't do this years ago..." - Joe Walsh
Joe holds up his custom spec. Guitar to display neck angle and bridge height with a tune-o-matic bridge and string through body and says:
"This is like an old Les Paul, where the bridge is right on the body...I can't get anybody to do that...I can't even get Gibson to do that...That's like the old Les Pauls, ya know..."

It's all about the neck angle...too steep, and the bridge has to ride high. Too shallow, and you have to start digging a trench for that bridge...or grinding the bottom off.
Question is...how much settling will occur during the guitars lifetime. Not an issue with bolt on necks, as they can be shimmed if necessary.
Not usually a huge concern.

Unfortunately, Gibson don't build them like that anymore...and that seems to be his point...:)
