Have had quite a few drummers through my little practice/recording room. Modest kit has been used lots and lots. Bunches with my Son recording stuff, and with my little bands and regular old jams. So, I know how that old kit sounds and how it sounds recorded. We just got a new drummer for my trio, couldn't be happier with the guys personality. His drumming..........is by far the heaviest anyone has ever done on this kit. New guy is like 6' 3" looks athletic and the recordings of him on that kit are so heavy it's hilarious. The kick drum has a thump to it that was never there before. It's heavier than I am used to but I"m going to just roll with it.

Yeah, it helps. When my Son was around 16 or so we did an EP just him and I. I had to use inline attenuators to be able to not send too hot a signal to the interface. Live, a loud drummer is a WONDERFUL thing. Most shows that I might end up on they have PA but don't bother to actually mic up anything other than vocals. The songs are having to evolve. I don't mind, they sound fine and it's fun to be heavy.

I have a few -24dB, from Naiant - way back in the day, kicking around here…aaaaah the good old days….recording human drummers…I kinda miss it.

Please don’t misunderstand…I mean it…I miss it. I just stopped a little while back…same band for 27 years.

This seems familiar. Did we have this discussion on ST???

I don't really care how other people do their stuff and trying to have actual bands is a pain in the butt but I missed out on most of that and hope to do some before I croak. 1717633932847.png
 
Have you been taking a bite out of your drummers and putting them back in the box again? :blink: :ROFLMAO:
