Carouselambra - Led Zeppelin

I came into the Led Zeppelin game toward the end of their run. While I was buying their back catalogue, this album was the only one I bought as it was released. While by this point they may have lost many of their old fans, it holds a special place in my heart.

This song is really a JPJ showcase (along with Bonzo) but Page still lays down some fun rhythm parts. This is one of the highlights of that album for me and IMO an underrated song. I don’t believe they ever got the opportunity to play it live which is a shame.

Carouselambra - Led Zeppelin

The return of 'the knees of rock'!!!
i had totally forgotten about this tune until now, so TY for the recall.
So synthy; if it weren't for the vocals, you might not know that it was a Zep song.

Ha! Thanks E! The warm weather is here and so are the knees...albeit another year older and worse for wear.

Very true on the song. If you played it without vocals you might have a hard time believing it was Led Zeppelin. I don't usually play the "what if" game but I can't help wonder what would have become of them had JB not died. They were nearing their use-by date and not particularly getting along (as the lyrics to this song imply) so I suspect their future was going to be short but I think they may have had another album or two in them. Maybe it was for the best as we didn't have to suffer through some cheesy MTV era video from them. :ROFLMAO:

I bought ITTOD the day it was released. Couldn't wait to get it home and drop the needle on it and I have to say I was terribly disappointed at first listen. It just did not sound like Zeppelin to me, and seeing as the previous record, Presence, kicked so much butt (Achilles Last Stand is still one of my all-time favorite tracks from any artist) 'twas a letdown.

Over the years I have grown a strong appreciation for the album, and feel it slots nicely into the Zeppelin canon, but it took a minute for the initial negative impression 14-year-old me had at first spin to dissipate.

I was a kid (about 12) when this was released but by that time I had a few of their albums (I and IV for sure and maybe II). I’m guessing I only found out about the album as All of My Love was being played pretty regularly on radio. Even to my young ears it was different from the LZ I knew and much of the album was lost on me. A few years later is when I began to really appreciate it and today it’s one of my favorite albums from them.

Ahh Nice Ralph thats is such a great song and as always you deliver the goods
Great playing and tone as always

Cheers
Mike
