My youngest is a way better guitar player than am I. I live with it.

But the sweetest deal is my eldest Granddaughter. I played trombone in HS as did both my boys. And now my Granddaughter also play trombone. Third generation. Hands down, she is the best of the four of us, As her dad says.... who held the best title till she came around.... He's not qualified to carry her trombone case she's so good. She's had the opportunity last couple years to play in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, All State Band (Illinois) a couple years. In the fall she's headed to University of Illinois on a Music Scholarship.

Shared this is another thread. We're pretty proud of the young lady.

I’ve got two sons who are both more successful than I by a factor of 1,000. It’s great… I’m at the age where you stop bragging about your own accomplishments and start bragging about your kids. Of course, it does kinda point out one’s shortcomings. I’m still the best musician in my family, though.
 
At 13 Boyo borrowed my bass and took it to his mom's house. A few weeks later he came over and he was playing Primus. Then he took up drums in school and quickly got good, played drum kit in jazz band and snare captain. He is now off at school, has a great band and........this is the painful part.....he is playing guitar with the help of the jazzy guitarists. Was kind of hoping he would leave guitar for me.

Dang kids. :lol:
 
Note: his bag is drums and he kicks butt, that's what he is studying and thats where the gigs come from. The guitar playing he does for fun. But still...he's able to play jazz guitar that I can't. Yet....
