New Les Paul day!

I'm only just now seeing this thread, but I almost said something earlier when I saw your post in the "show me your riffs thread" and the first thing I noticed was the knobs being in the wrong place. It just looked odd and it really jumped out at me, I even paused the vid so I could compare with my LPs and yep, they're off, lol! Then I started seeing other things. I thought it might be some kind of custom job, but it said Gibson on the headstock. I decided to let it go rather than derail that thread. :rolf2:

Ha ha now I can see it too and the knobs will bother me now ha ha ha ha thanks man!

There have been counterfeits since the dawn of time just never so prevalent as it is today.
As @JohnnyGoo
said , we never bought Chinese it would not be this way.
However , I do not think the big problem is with imported guitars.
More of things like cars and this damn phone I'm on.

That being said if the U.S. could build a cell phone or TV it would probably cost $4000.

That fake stuff doesn't bother me at all either.

There was a time where it used to, but not anymore. There comes a point when people, and even companies, get what they deserve.

What reasons drive a person to buy a fake one in the first place? Eliminate those factors, and maybe then people might not want a fake anymore. Might not even look at them.

But to dig in, push back, start suing folks, start making ridiculous claims of "inventing" shapes (demonstrably false, easily researched and identified photos from pre-existing designs) start smear campaigns, start acting as if the CUSTOMER doesn't know what they want or what they're talking about....well.....then they're getting exactly what they deserve and exactly what they set themselves up for. This is not rocket science; there is no mystery here.

Here's the problem: Gibson is about MONEY.
Myself, the customer, is about MUSIC.
There's a divide here somewhere. Gibson has very little to do with MUSIC anymore as it is now a "lifestyle" brand.

If the Chinese can and will deliver a good quality tool that helps me achieve my goals without going bankrupt, but the Gibson will cause me to go bankrupt and might not even be the quality that a musician needs....

I'm buying the fake, and Gibson gets what they deserve.

That's the real world. That's the way things work. Only those who enjoy a great deal of privilege are the ones who are going to whine about it. Those who aren't so privileged just simply don't care... Because it's about creating music for us, the musicians. What it's NOT about is generating wealth. Gibson would do well to remember that. They may even begin to reclaim some of the reputation they've lost if they could get that part straightened out.

My grandson has a bolt on Chibson LP it is a Tea burst that he plays all the time, its stock as it came from a friend of mine.
It is a very nice player, and it works for him quite well.
I have a couple of Gibsons and I love them.

But it will not stop me from researching the
Chibson V, I will never try to pass it off as a real Gibson, but I sure as hell will play it.
So whatever boat I may be classified in, so be it.

Today she got a whole lot darker

I have Gotoh gold keystone tuners on order, and a correct "Standard" truss cover ordered. Then she'll be done.

I bought two new Gibson LPs. The most expensive guitars I bought ever. A classic from 2018 and a standard from 2012. In both, some neck block inlays fell to the ground because someone glued them upside down. I'll never buy a brand new Gibson again.

That doesn't sound right. I've never heard of this happening. Gibson has some of the best quality control industry wide.

That's not happened just on my LP's. This has happened on others Gibson LP guitars sold in Spain and Italy. You know that the neck has a slight curvature on the fingerboard. The block inlays also have this curvature. If you glue them upside down then they stick out a little from the ends. With use they end up falling off. In fact, it is on the 3rd and 5th frets where they usually fall. On my '18 Lp the block inlay on 3rd fret needs to fall off. It's just a matter of time.
On my '12 LP Standard there was a moment where when you adjusted the truss rod of the neck, after two days the neck would bend too much again. The screw and its washer on the truss road stuck into the wood. I needed made a large washer to get more surface on the truss rod wood. Fortunately I was able to solve it. I use normal string gauge 10-46. My '18 LP Classic has not this issue. My '16 Explorer it's better guitar than my LP's.
