Gibsons own knockoffs

In the late 70’s when I moved up from a Hondo ll LP copy to a more expensive guitar.. I bought a new Stratocaster, there wasn’t 10,000 names for them back then.
Then I traded an amp (Sunn concert lead ) for a 1976 Gibson Explorer.
Then five years later I sold everything.
My next guitar 7 years later was a Squire.
So I have been around the block a few times.

Why is Epiphone allowed to copy Gibson? "In 1957, the company that owned Gibson bought out Epiphone and since then, they've been sister companies."

I'm one of those guys that never gave a second look at Epiphone because of the headstock. Now that they have a proper looking headstock I already own real deal Gibsons so I still don't give them a second look. Otherwise I would be looking at Epiphone.

I have said for many many years, that Gibson should put a Gibson headstock on most Epiphones. After all, it's what Fender has always done. Even Squiers have them, as well as MIM, and many many others. It always made sense to me. People who buy Epiphones usually can't afford (or want to pay) for a Gibson. From a marketing standpoint, it makes sense. Most who buy a less expensive Epi will eventually want a Gibson.

I’m the odd duck. I actually don’t mind the Epi headstock that’s on my G400. And while I’d sure accept one if one of you guys bought me a Gibson…. I have no plans to buy one myself.

I don't hate the Epi headstock, although on some models I do think it is ugly. They are good guitars, I've owned probably 5 or so over the years, including a G400. BUT I just think since Gibson owns them it might make "business" sense to do it. They sell tons of Epiphones, but I think they could sell many more with a Gibson headstock. Technically they could even put "Gibson" on the headstock since that is what Fender does with many non USA guitars....but I think having a Gibson headstock with the Epi name makes the most sense. Just my opinion.

I like this yellow amber or greeny burst Epi but I don't like an out of phase neck pickup. I would like know If maple tops are thick like Gibson have on this new look Epiphone. The truss rod cover still with three screws. I guess Epi truss rod it's like always. I would like an Epiphone built like a Gibson.
