Discussion: Recording, DAWs, and Mixing

I have a bit of a dilemma in regaurd to my computer (lap Top for recording)
I have lots of downloaded plugin stuff.

My problem is not knowing how to safely move those things to the other drive with out cause dependency failures. (File Paths) A lot of the stuff is tied to block or the line 6.

I need to clean it out. The original drive is only 256 gb.

My password is already broken for line 6 . Maybe because I had windows (Bing browser) and it saved the password. I inadvertently switched my default browser and I got locked out. But that's a different issue.

I write music on keyboards and drums not guitar this software will cost $1.000.00
I can load it on a separate external disc drive it will eat up 1 TB that's all my new computer has that's good news

Dude , if it takes up the whole drive of a new computer you are already in trouble for storage space. That is the problem with software . It eats space. I would suggest you use a very large external drive because once you start loading more stuff you will possibly lock it up.

Software is not your problem. It's the sound sample files ...looks like 80,000 of them. The virtual instrument libraries have to be HUGE as well. You will definitely want that stuff on a separate external drive.

Yeah…I would love to get something like that, but I don’t deserve it with my lack of skills/patience with keys and midi. I never got much past Sound-Fonts and free VSTI. Maybe someday soon, since they are now sold on their own external drives. Back when I was playing with virtual instruments, if I was to purchase a library like that I had to download 20+Gigs of samples to my own drive. I did have a dedicated drive for effects and samples, appropriately sized for the time. That’s the stuff that requires (eats) lots of ram. I know that I would have some fun with it, but I’d probably just go back to recording my own triangle, kazoo, jugs, and random stuff.

I can run the Komplete Kontrol keyboard and the Machine MK3 at the same time should be fun.

So funny , I found a plugin I wanted. It has a youtube video. Turns it was bought and shut down.
"Accusonus was acquired by Facebook / Meta in February 2022 and all products were discontinued"

Turns out Facebook has the plugins. Meta.
