Warm weather & its like a magnet to me. Can't stay inside till Next Nov. Boat is hitched to the Jeep, GT is running nasty as all get out. BUT

I am now in 2 bands & wanted a place to slap the progress without clogging up threads.

Band 1 - Dark County- psychedelic- alt rock. Met a singer/strat player who when we met..well , he used to drum for my Cuz & I, 8 years ago. Good guy-very good singer song writer. Has full set list & we play the whole time- it just works. Such a blessing to play a Bass in Standard E but actually have so much creative free range- its way better than the heavies. Tonal nuance-off timing- and semi normal volume. Auditioning drummers. This is all at my place , the room is fully set up Stacks & drums & full PA.

Band 2 - Well its a prog drummer with a kit bigger than most stages lol & a younger guitarist that is in a successful local band. Its another we knew each other from before but dont know how. It clicked. its nasty, its heavy. I go there to practice. Thats good for me, all i do is work & this gets me socializing a bit.

Hence why the recent new gear purchases. Setting up in E & the heavies. Way dif rigs required. Must handle the B so the HLF cab & the Trace 4x12 both are insane on the B & don't flub. The Trace 4x12 is hard to play by itself at home -so darn in your face being sealed. Those 200 watt Celestion drivers are very punchy

My recording will probably be less but will be recording in both bands as we write all original material from scratch. Sold some cars to go out & play some music before i expire. The switch back to bass has opened up some nice doors for sure.

Have a few more guitar players to audition. Wish i could play guitar to this madness also lol.

Its tricky cause its not exactly normal. Drummer is excellent & throws jazz-world beat type stuff right in there & it really allows me to change up things with dynamics.

probably need a jazz style improv lead type player that will go in the pocket then go off when time. Don't think 2 guitars is going to be needed.

Looks like your new drummer will need 15 to 16 microphones if he plays that set live
one thing I have learned moving gear back and forth everything has cases if not soon be trashed
next to consider is set up time sound check play your show and tear down time

That is my home fun kit. Pretty basic when we go live. This is my kit in band room. Drummers bring their cymbals. Good ol Ludwig thud set up

You should get some Camber symbols.
My kit is for practice & the drummers all bring cymbals & snare & kick pedal they play. Got that kit for 100 few years ago & it has some remo skins that just thud. It is such a good solid kit for beating on & live usage. Everyone that has used it loves it. They bring china - crashes all kinda cymbals.

Well, been on maybe the most methodical gear hunt for bass ever have done. Some interesting things have come out of it.

1) 4x8 cab stacked on 15 with Orange OBD 1 is a shocker. For the heavy band I haul that rig every week to practice. Easy transport BUT the real pleasantry has been for B & Drop C tuning- this is the rig for me. The 8's punch quick & i think it keeps the low B very focused but its stacked up so it just presents well without having to turn up so ,loud. Its slightly less efficient then the 15 s the tone is even.. We are blown away by this rig & we are not a quiet band.

Now for band 2 at my place in standard E finally setting up the room & here is my temp corner as seek another Ampeg cab for the SVT & the Pro 2 will go on HLF. Tho do have the SVT dialed in on the hlf cab. Its such a joy to have that "fullness" to the notes

Honestly- getting tired of the low tuning..but it gets us to the stage pretty quick. Still auditioning in G-tr players-looking for one who can communicate in musical terms- unreal that some show up with no clue of key-scale or a progression. At this age-if we have to talk about making music..done..Have gtar player in Americana/desert rock band-we just play & dont have to talk. Just say key & drummer for heavies-somehow we just know each others moves instinctively. need drummer for Americana & g-tar for heavies. SVT PRO & SVT.jpg

Feeling liberated musically finally having band action. All these years at home playing was cool but way more enjoy the live band interaction. All the practice & tone set up of gear is finally in action

Singer & Guitar for next heavy band practice & my good friend who is a drummer & has been in our band before is going to join the Americana Situation.

Have not picked up a guitar since last riffmaster song..in fact last one i posted used bass on lead lol

Think gonna dump all the guitar gear except mig 50 & Bugera V22 & SGJ & Strat,
Keep tossing gear at another Ampeg rig trade till they cave , here have a marshall & some cabs & couple USA guitars lol

Beatles Tax Man and Harry Nillsons song,Jump into the fire are some of my favoriteBass lines. Anything by Flea is a fun listen to.

Pretty interesting month, Hopefully tomorrow something 30.5 scale appearing & in a few days 30 scale,,both rad,,

Random Email last week from a band seeking bass player. Sent me the website & songs,,yeah man.. ,,audition is next Tuesday & learned the songs already. This is what i was looking for. It is in Standard E & the musicianship is incredible. It involves touring & i thought long & hard. Its time. First music i really want to play. There is Strat/LP into Marshall player, keys & drums.

All bases & bass rigs have been in test mode with the songs playing at band level in my PA.. So far Trace Elliot rig just might get it. The Ampegs are fighting with the plexi a bit in the mix & the keys are there but not heavy left handed, so the Trace tone stack(alembic-fender pre) is really layering underneath it all. He can lead like a mo fo & climbing in those leads is what i live for.
The sealed 4x12 cab is super responsive & has all the deep punch one could want. 2 more basses on the way for last test. one will be set up with flat wounds. Got real serious about this. can't even classify the music. it just rocks
