aww, isn't it cute? I actually got it maybe a month ago but it's still new to me and I wanted to share it with you guys.

So far it's a lot of fun. I always thought bass players were not all that hung up on gear, until I started reading up on bass strings...... holy rabbit hole. I've recorded a few clips with it running through my Kemper, and it sounds ok, but I'm curious about any hints or tricks for getting killer bass sounds direct into an interface. Would a DI box be a good start? lol

Here is the first clip I did with it. Kind a fun, cheesy tune I could see as an opening theme for a 90s sitcom

Nice bass. And you have me beat by about 3 decades. I’ve had my bass since mid 90s…. And I still don’t play it. Not real proud about that one.

Nice bass! Nice playing!

I play bass through the Kemper occasionally too. A good DI, like some of the SansAmp bass stuff, does pretty well. My favorite has been a Universal Audio 6176 preamp/compressor. I would imagine that there are many other good preamps out there for bass duties though. Best of luck on the quest!

I have a UA interface that I'm stoked to try out once I figure out how to hook it up. The Volt maybe? I got it as an inexpensive interface that had 2 monitor outputs. I mostly use the Kemper as the interface but it does seem a little glitchy sometimes and I want another interface for simplicity when actually putting a mic on something.

My youngest is a guitar/bass player. Did a garage band after HS and then one semester his Senior year at college played in a more upscale band. Played bass. Guitar came later.

Soooooo……. I happen to have his bass amp and cabinet living with us. It does okay.

Yea I mean you can always use the DI out if you can’t hear it over the drummer…

Several years back I played acoustic on my churches worship team. Just plugged into a DI to house. We had 2-3 bass players that took turns. For the most part they did the same. No amp on stage. DI to house. Of course the electric guitar guys had to have their amps on stage. It all worked.

In the studio stuff it was into great pre amps with Sansamp pretty much all the time. At home i mic a speaker most the time (heavies looking for compression) & using GAP 73 pre amp is motown & RB pretty much strait in.

I am hung up on gear lol but when i gig its a tuner , EQ pedal & 1 boost & Ampeg into HLF cab . The gear quest is my time passer & usually leads to a new original song.

What a relief its been transitioning back to full time bass after 8 year guitar learning side track. Way less to worry about actually.

If i was to only have 1 bass & wasn't bass player but recorded

P/J pickup configuration on a MIM/Squire/Sire or even SX in the classic original takes on the bass. It will get 95% of what you need at reasonable price.

Any Ibby active if i did the heavies

Strings other than flatwounds, for motown or thud not really a factor..ya have a tone knob
