Bass dudes, I need a little info, please

My bass player just bought an Ampeg SVT 410BE Classic cab. There's a level control on the back with the speakon and 1/4" inputs. What does that do exactly?

Ahh.. Ok. So, what would be the best setting? We're hard rock/metal. I screwed around with it and didn't notice any difference in sound.

Perhaps the horn is blown? Depends on settings. Maybe not much high end in what he is playing and his settings? Understandably he is not slap bassing it.

Zero, Always have my horn/tweeter off. Especially for the heavies
