Announcing... RiffMasters!

Hit maker , damn promote it. Go the local radio station. I'm telling you le2k , youtube video with song !
I’m an average bedroom player at best. I’m good with sharing and making an ass of myself with you guys. A video isn’t where my head is right now. I’m enjoying the hobby and love the challenges Brad puts out there.

Also, I haven’t been called LE2K in a long time.

He's so humble here on TTR, but at home with his wife, co-workers and neighbors, Liveevil be all like

So kidding man! I'm just jelly! In one week you got more plays on one silly piece than I've been able to tally from my whole 25 song catalog on soundcloud over like a decade? And, yours does sound pretty great!

Deserves celebration, no matter how hard you try to downplay it my friend. I uploaded my reggae tune to soundcloud last night and believe it or not I actually got one listen, and TWO messages... one lady wrote a nice message offering her skills to help me master it properly, and another dude who really wants to help me get it on spotify :pound-hand:

Alrighty,... Here we go. I spent a lot of time on this one. I hope you all like it.
TAYS (This Ain't Your Song) recorded on the ZOOM R20, with my homemade TeleSlider, AKG Perception 220 mic, and whatever effects I could hardly figure out how to use on this damned device. I wrote the lyrics and composed the slide guitar parts years ago but never got to recording. The subject matter is a little weird for me as I've long since came to peace with the three people it's written about:
1st verse, my old drummer/best friend in HS,
2nd verse, an old GF, Joy and
3rd verse, old best friend from JH/bass player

This Ain't Your Song

You sold your name,
You ain't the same thing you once were,
But you haven't changed,
You sold your name.

TAYS, TAYS,...

You lost your brain,
You ain't as smart as you think you are,
You think you're insane,
But genius is too close to insanity.

TAYS, TAYS,...

You lost a friend,
You had in me from the very start,
To you I send,
This song I hope you, take to heart.

TAYS, TAYS,...

TAYS, TAYS, TAYS, TAYS, TAYS, TAYS,

TAYS, TAYS.

Some talented folks on here. That sounded pro quality. Nice job Ku
Thank you! Still trying to figure out this ZOOM R20. It has a lot of Pros, but also a LOT of Cons. The drums sound very pixelated and the touch screen is pretty hard to work with sometimes. Stuff moves all over the place accidentally and lining stuff back up is a biatch, but I like the convenience of it.

@Ku² drops his "Dirty Dirt" submission a one day before deadline! Small multitrack recorder?
This shows what's possible in these boxes. Multi-layers of some SUPER fine slidework,
and some well performed vocal harmonies once again.
You've done this before, pretty easy to tell, pacing, arrangement. I can actually imagine Ozzy singing
this well before when, he was what he isn't anymore.

Really diggging that slide solo section... kills! Matches Duane in Layla, my opinion, and no ear piercing tones.
Then the breakdown, gives us a bit of relief, then sets us up for a big finish.

Overall, I can feel this... your theme on how people, friendships adapt over time, people change,
relationships erode, but that core emotion still remains hard and fast, continuing to haunt us.

Honestly, I didn't really notice any big problem with the simple drums. But through my phone headphones
the song seemed hot and was really glitchy, but I didn't notice the same thing though my desktop speakers.
You may wish to check that and re-upload/re-link if you feel the same. I will allow you that before the vote.

You may or may not realize you didn't have to incorporate slide in your dirty dirt, but you did so
automatic points there for one extra bonus point, and VERY well-earned at that.

I'm having trouble finding any classic country/rural musical themes from this, but the southern rock bluesiness hits enough
to pass muster, I think. There is a definite rock "dirt" happening in that rhythm guitar, but can't see any rap/urban hip hop at all
in there so, you do miss out on the "hitting three" extra bonus.

But I look forward to how this one hits the rest of the crew in the vote coming this weekend.

@Ku² also joins the list of RiffMasters who are complete for Round Three.

Let me listen again. OK I did. There is a bit of a that beat there, wasn't readily apparent to me.
I don't want to be sole judge on this, as I am also a competitor in this. SO, lets do this via
your fellow competitors.

RiffMasters Is there enough of an "urban/hip-hop/rap" feel in TAYS by KU to qualify for the extra 2 bonus points?
Ultimately, the intention was for all to create a "Redneck Anthem" type of song combining different musical flavors.

I quote from original info drop:

Your challenge: Make us a kind of music song built perfect/special for Cal, and his friends. I believe you got folks just like him way down there in the USA, too. Might even be one yourself. Not judging! When you make your tune, you can cover an existing song, or even make your own up. But, your submission MUST somehow combine elements at least TWO of the three genres: RockMetal / Country / Rap
However you see fit to do it. Iffen you are REAL RiffMaster material, might manage to build in a little of ALL THREE of them genres into your submission (min. 1:00 long). Lookie there, you do that? Sure's Hell we got usselves a real musical jeanyus in here, ain't that right?
I reckon something real special like that might as well be good for an AUTOMATIC BONUS 2 POINTS!

Well. For me they're all awesome. Some have fit the instructions better than others..... but all are good. My issue and why I would not offer dissenting thoughts. What I've heard from these guys so far, I couldn't do if I was given 6 months to do it in. Even then the final product would suck toads compared to the offerings from these guys so far..... and they're getting better with each song post. Not a lot of help.... was I? Sorry.

Alright, so after a long sabbatical due to a wave of illnesses floating thru this house over the course of 5 weeks now; I have decided, respectfully, that I'm gonna withdraw from this competition any further. Good luck to all of you! Best wishes- Mike
I hope all is well, you mean a lot to the game sorry to see you go. If possible jump back in if you can. I don't (personally ) see it as a competition just some great fun and it's less fun without you. Again I hope everything is okay.

Less than 24 hours remain to get a "Dirty Dirt" submission in. Whatever you can wrangle up, in bounds of the theme, are worth an automatic five points that you don't have now.

Maybe more, after the vote!

I think it qualified for the extra 2 points.
And also love the quality of the production!!
