Get ready for the new bass gear onslaught as going to swap half my guitar stuff for bass.
Great amp, am old school SVT player & been playing out my MIG 50 & 50 watt 6l6 at practice but for down tune SS old school is my thing. Cant get modern class D to attack right from a players perspective..like when it hits the rails..there is a pause but not a compressor or limiter pause. Just something i hear or sense that messes my timing up
Have it on SVT210av & PA 1x15 just like at practice. Now i can dial in & just take head & 2x12 & put it on the cab thats at practice & be super set tone wise.
Will be Ampeg 410 here soon. Picking up GK RB over the weekend but i like this amps tone..its a pushed clean which for B & C it stays tight on low end.SWR.jpgSWR a.jpgSWR b.jpg

My youngest has one of those. Storing it at our house. That thing moves a lot of air.

Pretty picky about bass sound especially in a band & recording. Just put in 2 hours with it. I can see why all those artists used SWR back then.
Not so many heavy but those liking the fullness & detail which to me is exactly what down tune needs,,not the more overdrive they keep pushing for metal. Also this is right at the level with 2 cabs running at 4 ohms where it starts getting nasty at kick drum level on its own. I knew 200 wouldnt cut it & sometimes 800 is too much cause its sterile at times(thump with no grit maybe-?) but seems like 400-500 watts pushing 2 cabs at 4 ohms is my ticket to band mix proper ness. New word" properness" noun or a verb"=knowing your role in a mix & staying in your lane lol

My kid used it in the garage band he was in. Think Blink and Green Day covers when they weren’t doing original songs. He had no problem keeping up with the two guitars.

And an aside. I can’t plug my Ovation into my 20w Traynor and not get feedback. One day I plugged it into his bass amp. Cranked that puppy. Zero feedback. The walls were shaking. It was awesome.

Learned something very valuable that anyone could use. After thoroughly enjoying this amp this afternoon. Going to be able to use this without the Sansamp DI.

After massive a/b, going to say 50% of the Ampeg SVT grind i dig in the mix comes from the SVT sealed cabs, the Fridge 8x10. The mini 210SVTav is sealed like that & it gives up the grind real darn close. So after these years half my Ampeg tone or maybe even more is SVT cab driven not just the amp

Simply turned gain on SWR up till clipping & backed off a hair & tweaked the mid's & this bad boy grinds on its own very favorably. With active pups it's sick actually, might have a bigger/together bottom end than Ampeg actually.

Didn't mean to, just scored maybe just maybe the end all be all cab for my needs & it semi reasonable to transport. Just listed on Reverb by the gear shop at Rock Lititz, man do they sell some killer gear from time to time cause of all the touring acts they build sound & stages for.

Painstakingly been debating & messing around with cabs for 2 weeks. I love this SWR head the HI-fi tendencies(bottom stays tight & enhancer really can move the mid EQ shift for that in the pock metal stuff) works very well with the heavies... not bad for old school but the MIG 50 got the sag & tube bloom covered. Down tune madness very pleased. Even at 8 ohm messing with the SVt210 for sane practice levels, its plenty loud & deep but now got the gig cab very set !!Poor neighbors tomorrow !!
