It was actually kind of sad as it stopped working and my dumb young self listened to my buddy who said he knew a guy could look at it for me. He then told me the guy said it wasn't worth fixing and I never got it back. Knowing my buddy's money struggles in the past, I wouldn't have been surprised if her sold it off for a few bucks and just told me that story.
I did the same thing with an old Crown bass amp which sounded just peachy. Today I would just replace the transformer which got smoked. At least I would take it to someone who knew better. I made some unwise decisions back in the day myself.
