Dental Implants?

Anybody got 'em? I'm thinking about getting a couple to replace some teeth I've lost over the years. Luckily I haven't lost any front teeth that show, I've been able to deal with a couple of missing (chewing) teeth for a long time, but I just lost another one Monday, (had a crown come loose and they couldn't fix it) and losing this one makes a difference so I'm looking at replacing it and maybe in time a couple more. They're not cheap, but they're less than they used to be. I'm just wondering if any of you have any and what was your experience.

They tell me that they're there for life and I never have to worry about it again. I hope that's true, but I don't know anyone that can verify.

I haven’t. Have a friend that has. One I think. He did not enjoy himself…. But I take that with a grain of salt. A splinter sometimes can be a life altering event.

I’ve had root canal twice. Everyone told me it’d be bad. It was so not an issue. Both times in and out. Went back to work when they were done. Couldn’t feel the top of my head…. But I was at work.

My point. If they get you shot up with enough Novocain you won’t feel anything. And from what I understand. It’s worth it to have done.

I've done a little research. They say they are not as bad as getting a tooth pulled so that's comforting. I just had the worst tooth pull I've ever had. They had to dig it out, at one time the pressure was enough that I thought he was going to dislocate my jaw. I've had root canals that were a walk in the park compared to having this one pulled.

The crown had come loose and was literally spinning back and forth. He pulled the crown off but then had to go in and take the root out in pieces, it was crackling and crunching and was the worst dental experience I've ever had. I can't imagine an implant being any worse than that.

Only teeth I’ve had pulled were my wisdom teeth. Needle in the arm and wake me up when it’s over. So the “surgery” part of was easy. Felt like crap afterwords. Obviously, some blood gets swallowed. Plus shaking the effects of the anesthesia.

Unfortunately I inherited my Dads soft teeth. I have taken care of my teeth all my life, but even so I've had many issues. Another unfortunate thing is I have teeth too big for my mouth. I had to have braces in my early teens and before I got braces they had to pull several teeth to make room to straighten them. They pulled 4 on top and 2 on the bottom, or maybe the other way around, I forget. Getting one tooth pulled for me is like having 2 teeth pulled for a normal person. Then I also had to have all my wisdom teeth pulled after I got my braces off because they were pushing my teeth crooked again.

I'm no stranger to mouth/tooth pain, but the one I had pulled monday was the worst thing I've ever had done and losing this one was a huge deal.

Mouth pain is no fun. We can mind over matter an awful lot in the pain department. But when the mouth hurts…. Pretty much ruins your day…. And night since you must likely can’t sleep.

It's the worst. I'm dealing with it right now, but it's actually doing pretty good. I literally watched the hole close up at least half way thru the day today, but it still hurts more than anything else I've ever had done. I suspect by friday I should be able to eat again. lol

Turkey is the destination of choice for a lot of people on this side of the pond. Seemingly it cost less than a third of UK prices and people I have spoke to were well impressed with the professional standards

I don't know, putting those screws into the jawbone..........I can't seem to find any reviews from the web, except those from dental offices. That is concerning to me....

The option seems to be dentures. If it came to that with me. Dentures vs implants. Gonna be implants all the way.

My friend that got one commented on the miniature SnapOn ratchet the dentist used while doing the install.

I guess you can only hope you get a very good dentist, and when he does the work, he's having a good day and everything goes well. Otherwise if one is having many teeth done, there are some serious things that can happen if not done properly.

Like I said, I can't find any reviews from people having this work done, except the ones that are on the Dentists sites. Makes me wonder why?

I do not know anyone personally who has had this process done at great length.

Actually as I think about it. Besides my friend. A former coworker had them all done. Been fighting with dentures for a lot of years. Made the jump. Not gonna lie. There was some unpleasant moments…. But at the end of the day he’s extremely happy he made the jump. He can eat real food again…. Like corn on the cob.
