Announcing... RiffMasters!

OK ok, here it is.
Caveat - the boss was sleeping upstairs as I did it so I hadda be quiet with the "singing" so there is much to be desired there. But hen again, it's cowboy singing so... the rap? Well, again just fun rhymes no need to sing but I do hate rap as a "music" type.
Mistakes and all, I got other stuff to do today so not that much went into it.
If I could write Epic songs like @LiveeviL2000 I would leave it for the band and record it!!
It's alllll tongue in cheek...

Awesome!

Yea, I did get a bit lazy with the actual music this time; however I did like that track. I could have, yea, added added some guitar to it. Still took a while though. As you and everyone knows, this stuff takes some time to do in any case.

Thanks, bro!
Yeah not knocking the effort in any way, just didn't sound as metal to me. But super lyrics and singing, it's a song! Unlike my effort!! :ROFLMAO:

@Jethro Rocker never afraid to tell us all how you really feel! I do really dig the wild west lead line hook though, super catchy!
Sounds to me this thing should have some whip crack FX in there... of a certain kind ... How much does your wife actually make by renting you a room in her house? :pound-hand:

Solid entry, good for extra 2 bonus points ... way to go brother nice to see you in!

Cheers
She is down with the cat with her bad ear (lost the hearing during the brain surgery, we knew this going in) up so it was easier. She often sleeps poorly and cuddles up w Spirit around noon. I putter and have a bath, read, sing cowboy rap....

Oh and also... good news!!! I was in contact with @Randy Van Malmsteen last night...sounds like he fully intends to discharge his flintlock in the general direction of @Sapient sometime today... so this means more music and another vote thread tonight!
OK, enjoy: we're_really_sliding-less-triggering-version.mp3
  • I ended up using a tip I read in a post here: initially I'd raised the action at the nut a screwdriver shaft, but it moved around too much and didn't curve over the nut/neck radius. I ended up using a plastic handle of a tiny fine art paint brush which had some flex and also wasn't too thick.
  • Used my Line 6 Variax using 2 different tones, one was resonator, the other... not sure.
  • For a slide, I used a 18mm chrome socket, since the tone wasn't quite right on a 17mm socket...:pound-hand:
  • Was curious what harmonized sliding might sound like. Since it's not typical to hear 2 slide guitars at the same time.

ok guys, I think I'm first.
Here is how I recorded it.
Rhythm Guitar: Jackson Pro Series KVT King V Pro (Drop D)
Slide Guitar: Gibson Adam Jones Signature Series Les Paul (Open D)
Drums: EZ Drummer3
No bass this time, the LP had a good bit of bottom end.

I tried to include the whole thing. Rock, Country, Rap, and Slide guitar.

Lyrics
(Verse 1)
Saddle up, partner, we're ridin' high,
No dusty trails, No western sky.
Got my cowboy kicks, no Jingling spurs
The city is my prairie, dont live in the burbs
Concrete dreams, where neon gleams,
Skyline horizons, no desert schemes
I’m a city slicker, not a dumb ass cowpoke
Spitin out these lyrics and I aint no joke!

(Verse 2)
On the Hudson River, not the Rio Grand
I’m a east coast f**ker, from the promised land
Dont ride no bulls, dont wrangle no steeds
Its the concrete jungle fool, there aint no need
No tumbleweed whispers, just sirens wail,
In this metropolis, ambitions sail.
Kinda like Clint and the Man with no Name
More like Dirty Harry, That’s my game.

(Verse 3)
From the subway echoes to the city beats,
I hustle and flow on these urban streets.
Concrete canyons, skyscrapers so high,
No dusty trails, just a city sky.
Dodging city cabs, not a wild stampede,
In this asphalt wilderness, my dreams succeed.
Heart of the city, where tales are told.
Graffiti walls, paint my story bold

(Verse 4)
No street showdowns, no barroom brawl,
this urban rodeo, where I walk tall.
My lasso swings from the subway lines,
Catchin' my dreams in these city confines.
A different kind of sunset, in city glow,
From Broadway stages to alley flow.
So saddle up, partner, in the city strife,
I’m a city slicker cowboy, I live a wild life.
WTActual F... Damn that is well done LiveeviL2000
All the points !

  • This mournful ditty was predicated on situational awareness. Simply, pondering the meaning of threat, and the actual level of said threat, relative to what has been imparted on numerous occasions by leadership.

Nice job RVM!!

Note though:

1) Fk *That Controversial Figure* (mod edit)
2) There is no politics here
3) Eat your own (Dude, what?!?)

Again, good job, but that was bull:poo:.

That is a very well done riff or riffs.

I was so taken in by @Randy Van Malmsteen clip from the first competition I had to vocal it up with an improve idea. Maybe he wants to do an original?? What y'all think? Hopefully he is not a real good singer and puts my head in the sand. :hide:

Nice Job! - I sing lead in my band on occasion (we all do) but mostly just lower harmonies since I couldn't get head voice figured out.
I'm harmony on this sample from 2004 qs-shortshook.MP3

Wow, that's awesome, A+ really enjoyed, quite captivating - holds interest. It's going to be hard to do better than this.

Well done! You could really feel the sadness in the song, with the sliding.

Ok RVM drops a hot one, a mournful take on an anthem familiar to us all. He could have just as easily done his own nations' anthem too, might have been less "stirring."

@Randy Van Malmsteen the rules of politics/ religion as generally verboten topical matter for open discussion / argumentation on The Tone Rooms, (and most places line this) which you may or may not be aware of.
The forum rules are easy to find and I suggest you take time to review. That said, it's my understanding there is a "bit" of leeway for "musical subject matter" protest songs, etc... but overtly using parts of speech by a sitting (or not sitting) political leader as part of a musical piece (No matter your opinion on what is said) pushes a ways too far over that line.

I ask you to re-upload your mournful musical piece without the spoken word bits before we set to vote. It's lamentation is plenty strong (and very possibly "triggery" enough) without the spoken word parts.

And let us all continue the game being mindful and respectful and thinking twice about chattering about sociopolitical topics no matter how cleverly the opinion is claimed to be hedged. This only serves to foster member division and butt-hurtedness. There are plenty other places to go online if that happens to be your heart's delight.
