I have 5 guitars each with their own stand. They have that black foam where the neck of the guitar sits. I know some of you have concerns about the foam staining the neck.

I bought my Wife a new wallet, so I took her old leather wallet, and cut strips about an inch and a quarter thick by three and a quarter inches wide . My Wife took her hot glue gun and wrapped the leather partly around and the corners. Worked out well and had enough leather out of it to do all 5 stands.

It leaves a smooth stain free method, of keeping the neck clean of any markings..

I'm really surprised that soft foam did that. I know the hard rubber is like sand paper over time. Good idea though, 5.

Just to say, I'm never without a pretty significant size hide of leather that I use for various things once in a while. You can get it off eBay for a good price in various cutouts and quality levels. I love having a nice big sheet of leather for who knows what. Always comes in handy.

Do you want me to send you some leather, 5? I can give you a nice chunk ...you're pretty close by.
 
When I bought my LP Standard I didn't want to take any chances (I leave my guitars on a stand 24/7) so I took a 100% cotton pillowcase and cut strips to wrap the foam parts with, just in case.

It was what I had on hand at the time. I'll probably redo it with black someday, maybe, it's not a priority right now. :rolf:
 
My electrics sit in stands 24/7. Going to have to check the material. But so far, I’ve not seen any marking on any of them. I don’t have much for leather….. but I do have plenty of denim. I’d just have to cut around the holes in the knees. ;)
