DAW / Interface / Plugins and other Magic

Yep. I've got API stuff from Waves, Plugin Alliance, and Universal Audio. I like them all. :)

I've also got a good number of the Waves Abbey Road plugs as well. Those sound fantastic!

I don't have that sexy looking reverb that you have though. That thing looks HOT!!
The reverb & chamber in Abbey is mind blowing as far as making the mix become alive.

API stuff i noticed was used on some of the hard rock guitars i like.

Cool, its been very much a great learning experience this past 2 weeks as i dive into mixing & mastering for first time ever,
So glad have the capture part down as my main strength,

When went into pro studio to record first song ever, Engineer took my pedals & turned my gain down. best thing that ever happened to my tone.

Having 200+ songs in Reaper, have a treasure trove to mess with & learn.

I wasn't saying you were a "bad" reviewer at all. I was just saying you seemed to be reviewing it without full capacity of its offerings. That was it. :yesway:
Review just in, it's like " buddar "
So a couple of things I had not done properly.
1. Somehow a mysterious antiviris catcher attached to my windows maybe during an update. Anyway, that blocked Softube and UA from running shell programs! Fixed that.
2. The speakers were in the wrong output. The volume control works perfectly.
3. I had updated Reaper previously.
So I decided to try it. It works very well. First recording, awesome.Still need to learn to use it better but it's really intuitive.
4. Where do all the plugins go? In the DAW ? Reaper installed all of the Plugin Aliance stuff. Some how I guess I need the file path. The UA download is complete.

Yeah, the "Dial" is what I was referring to. I use Reaper, but the problem is both in and outside of a DAW.
Sorry, dial, knob, whatever. You going straight from your guitar in to the volt ? Or guitar amp? What is making the super huge signal on the input?

Output I mean for monitors. Mine works fine once I plugged in to the correct output. Lol
Today I used the line out of my attenuator in to the 476, perfect for recording.

Awesome. You need Plugin Alliance Download Manager, but you've probably already done that step. Reaper should already know your VSP3 path and see the plugs. Seems you're good now.

As far as the HX Stomp setup: see page 40 of the manual…

Set the output level of the HX Stomp to “line” level, and connect the HX outputs (see page 4-5 of the HX manual) to the 476 (line inputs 3 & 4) using two 1/4 inch TRS cables. TS/instrument cables will also work, but may allow some noise to sneak in…your choice.
I think it's time to try this set up.

Don says you should rely 100% on plugins only.

Well, to be honest. Working with Reaper , UA plugins , Plugin Alliance , Softube ,Volt interface I have almost all I need. I'm not to much of a tube amp snob but the EVH 15w sounds great going in to the Volt 476. That being said , I rely heavily on the Stomp when I practice and record. If I do a tube amp recording vs guitar straight in vs Stomp you might not even notice a difference. Live you would of course.
I wish I would had all this stuff 12 years ago.

Yeah, I run direct into my Volt. I have Voodoo Custom pickups that are passive but pretty hot. But I also have a Jackson V with Duncan's that also have issues with the signal being too hot. It's useable, but I just expected to be able to use more of my input sensitivity sweep than only a 1/4 of the bottom end.

I wonder if there is a way to attenuate the guitar signal easily.
Obviously for me the ultimate control with Mic , Amp and Attenuator controlling volume to the 476. I did use a amp vst in my other DAW and in Reaper. Not yet sure about a cab sim but that could work or a cab /driver.

I managed to register the Volt. I started to get some of the software but it looks like I might have missed all the good stuff since they took 4 days off before shipping.
It works very well. Just did a short guitar recording but in Abelton live. I just don't like that software.

I updated Reaper , that might end up being the go to because I don't want to change settings on Mixcraft 9. That is set up for the Hx Stomp.

I might get time tomorrow.
My set up basically. Volt and Reaper. Add in my Two Notes Captor, where the signal drops, and the Captor is also a D.I. box, so into the interface and get my speaker simulation from the Two Notes Cab M+. I know it sounds like a commercial, just what ended up this way to be able to still use my amps.

Been fine on my end, all issues encountered have all been operator error.

Yes , the Volt is fantastic.
