When I was looking at that new LP with all the fancy electronics, I wanted to see exactly what they did.
Found 3 videos on it.
Number 1 was the best.
He explained what everything was, gave examples of the active EQ.
He BRIEFLY (as in strummed one chord) glossed over the 3 toggle switch effects saying things like "the expander, well, expands..." Expands.... dynamic range? Low and high EQ? What exactly?
The single chord, oddly, wasn't enough to really tell.

Then he plays the next 5 minutes with just the guitar ignoring the things that make it unique. I don't care how well you play. Noodling around for a couple minutes on each pickup like it was new to me.
Sigh..

That was the BEST one.
Another one started playing right away and mistakenly called the Expander a coil tap!! Don't bother if you don't know???
I toasted that one fast enough.

The third one spent 6 minutes showing the guitar. Yes, showing it.
Never even plugged it in!
At best that is atrocious but this guitar has some unique electronic thingys that some of us would like to hear.

Just a total loss, really, first one was kinda ok but not too informative.
They ALL spend too much time noodling trying to show off.

Bite me.

I can get the basics out of the clowns but to get real help ya have to sort to players that play like you. I will not even go through a review if its in IR or digi world.. why not ? my reality never will be that so its a complete waste of time.. Now give @Mitch Pearrow SJMP or Johan Seg or somebody with a super reverb on 10 in their garage,, yes !! i dont want to hear $1,000 worth of pedals or $1,000 worth of studio post production into a Plexi or Twin or Vox, want to hear the guitar & amps, lol good rant... thanks

You think those young pimple faced kids are going to know what the legendary ......'throw knows about guitars? They've never "been there" and they never will. I've gone into guitar center KNOWING they are not going to know about studio gear past the toys they now sell in these places. Everyone is "Best Buy" floor staff these day. And WE are all .....legendary.

This is not at all surprising. I've never found the videos to be of much use. Only way to know how something works (or sounds) is still to get yer sweaty mitts on it and figure it out.

Yes I thought of that but I never post anything publicly on YT. Too many loonies out thrre to tear it apart. I will do one here tho.

Reviewers with a different style is one thing. Who posts a video about a guitar with weird effects and doesn't even plug it in?

Once I have it, sure.
But when one is wanting ro possibly buy something, a decent review is helpful.

And I'll add.. Not everyone is a lead player! It's so frustrating when I'm looking at a guitar or pickup demo and all they do is noodle around on lead . That's absolutely worthless to me. I want to hear how it sounds on chords and riffs.

Absolutely! Core tones.
Or just show us what it looks like.

I stopped repairing guitar amps why people that watch U tube videos are now experts and they waste my time on the phone
try to talk for hours no consideration of my time.

What I hear with online recordings. YouTube, Soundcloud, etc. is not what I hear when I'm playing. I watch reviews but more to get a feel for a guitar or amp. That's all you can get off the Internet, a feel for what it might be like. I no longer buy a guitar I haven't played, even if it's a Craig's List deal and I just strum a couple of chords not plugged in. I can tell more from strumming a couple of chords than watching online reviews.
