Aging Concerts

Bob Dylan is a great poet. Hands down. But I've always thought finger nails on the chalk board when I hear him sing.
 
I think if they put on a good show still, people tend to like nostalgia, it's safe and makes them feel good, they can sing along.
If they have had their day, though, then yikes. I don't want to go watch someone who can no longer perform.
Years back at the annual 3 day festival here, Dr. Hook (who I didn't care less about) was at it and he has gone deaf and cannot hear where he is singing. Stunk the place right up so we went across the street for a pint and burger.
Just a complete waste of time....
 
I saw Night Ranger in the late '90s at a decent size nightclub. The were still very high energy and sounded awesome.

Heck, I'd never even go to a concert these days to be honest. Not sure why but I'm way over it.

*edit* - I would however see Jethro's band in a second if I could. :yesway::dood:

Besides concerts and orchestra our two oldest grandkids are in….. I think the only concerts we’ve been to in to 2000s was Straight No Chaser in Chicago. Also Yes at House of Blues. Got in free to that one. Childhood best friend’s son worked there at the time and comped us tickets.
 
We used to go to smaller concert venues before the pandemic, to see some mid-stream artists. I just can't justify paying over $100 for nosebleeds to see big bands. The smaller venues are nice because some of them, there's not a bad seat in the house.

I've also found some great new bands that way too. Saints of Valory, Bones UK, Spiritual Rez, are three bands that have turned into favorites that I was introduced at some of these concerts as openers.

I do miss the smaller shows.

The big bands don't know it but they are running the fans away with the stupid prices. I do understand if you have never seen the band (younger generation ) People want to see them so they pay.
I'm over it.

Every summer at that 3 day festival here we have a chance to see lots of nostalgia acts. I really like it. If we got "normal" tix it's around $70per day, really not bad.
We get the 3rd level rooftop deck overlooking the entire affair, all inclusive! :D Way more fun, don't fight for your little piece of turf and not so loud you can actually visit w friends during the lesser bands.
 
I saw damn near every major band in the 70's and early 80's. I'm talking Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, The Who, Led zeppelin and the like. The few shows I've gone to see bands up on stage with the members in their 70's and it pained me. Most of their voices are shot and they could barely move. Out of shape...etc. I think the worst had to be Blondie. Debbie Harry was just a complete mess. Clem Burke did still kill it on the drums though!

The only person I'm interested in seeing again is David Gilmour. He can still play and is quite entertaining. Ticket prices might stop me though. I'd go see Nick Mason as well...
