I like the tuners I have 95% of the time, but one thing I find playing outdoors , its very hard to see the small screens on those sunny days. They don't cut glare and can be a bit of a problem. Any suggestions. besides not playing in these conditions.;)

Haven't found a company that makes one for these conditions.

I love clip on tuners and have a half a dozen of them.
My favorite ones are rechargeable Fender branded.
But I've honestly never used them outdoors.
Perhaps a pedal board tuner should be on your wish list.
Clip on tuners have become the deal for sure. Just not for me. I don’t clip things on my head stock.

I’m too anal to clip things on the headstock. Don’t like how it looks. In worship band, I wouldn’t clip my capo on it either. When I wasn’t using the capo I either tossed it back on the music stand or dropped it on the floor. And when I played at church I had the TU2 on my board. Could kick that in, mute my guitar and tune.

Crazy idea but maybe an option? What about a small strip of light window tint?

I only ever used clip on tuners with my kids' guitars honestly. The only true tuner I have is built into my floor processor, the rest of the time I do it by ear ( adjusting pitch from the 6th string and then continuing down each string upon the 5th fret and 4th fret for the 2nd string)

Yep. When I started. Didn’t have a tuner. So…. When I got the chance I’d tune it to a piano. After that at home it was all by ear. Fortunately. The Ovation holds tune really well. Even today. I’ll use the tuner to tune open notes. But when I start playing… if it doesn’t sound quite right, then I tweak it by ear.

The thing is though, I don't use a pedal board outside.

Light window tint mmm, that would be worth a try Mike. As far as tuning goes, that would be ok for standard tuning, but I use different tunings each time I play, so that's why I like a clip on tuner that I can use out doors..

I like the TC Electronics Poly Tune on my board works well in the sun. I hate clip on tuners they eat battery's bad
and still have Korg and a Seiko tuners that eat 9 volt battery's.

Wow, I would stay away from those clip on tuners, I have D'Addario, Godin, Fender, battery life lasts a long time for me. They use the 2032 small round batteries .

Well Norm….the TC polytune clip works okay for me. The LED screen seems pretty clear here…but I’m usually under my big old oak tree….

Not my pic.

Don the picture of your polytune looks brighter than my D'Addario. This might be an option . Even when i am under the shade I can read it but as soon as you get into brighter conditions, no good.

Put the tuner pedal by/on the amp on a short lead just before the input.
You could even put a little shade shield over it if it's in direct sunlight.

Fitz, I am not interested in using a pedal board outside, I would like to find a tuner clip that is clear to read in bright conditions..

I gotcha, no problem! There is one but man it ain't cheap especially for a clip on. The Peterson Stroboclip is actually made for direct sunlight but it's $59.99 USD

Alternatively, there's the TC electronics Unitune that uses an LED grid thats able to be seen in daylight as well at about $35.99USD
