NAD Marshall Origin 20

Def dig this one. Having had jtm 45-Black Flag-1987 modded 4 holers at once. Instant ability to hone in what was looking for. Tilt left goes bassman right goes across the pond more.
Key to this rig is the Marshall Bluesbreaker oversize cab. Used this with all my amps, its simply huge & balanced. Brings mids out on fenders & tames harshness of Marshall & presents the fizzy orange circuit clear.

The bad rap is just from those who think they are getting tons of gain. iIs old school. First thing i did was turn the master to the right the whole way then dial in. Treble backed off, bass back off & presence to taste. Right on in 1 minute. Then the test on M circuits..Boss sd1 goosed, yep mid pop galore for leads & clear crunch. Thank you Marshall for as about as much fun as you can have for 3 bills. Dude who sold it said it sucked.. no gain. That is all i needed to hear to know it would be in bassman-45ish territory. Yep it is for sure

HNAD & Congrats on the O20H. :H5:
I'm an Origin fan - got a 20 & a 50.
Put a good EQ in the loop and these amps get a jaw dropping variety of tones.
Good choice trying the SD-1 out front.
These amps also love the BD-2.
I moved my Boss board over to the 50, and I'm currently slamming the 20 with either a Mesa Gold Mine or the legendary Digitech Bad Monkey. (y)

Spot on !! I just ran about 10 pedals what am amp. The tilt is such a weapon to me, its quasi bassman on the left which is that F style rhythm & creamy solos & then as you go right you get that Marshall dirt then boosted the K-Rang !! That only Marshall can do.

My hat is off to them for Giving a 4 holer experience at this price point..is it exactly like the old ones..no, but at this point in life its refreshing & a blessing to be able to play something this good at a very fair price !!

Congrats!! I dig mine, I got the 20c for the grab and go factor. But play it through several different cabs. A little fuzz face and some slap back mmm mmm deelish.View attachment 95514
Why that Jensen on the wall, lol ! i love Jensen's. Especially the lower db sensitivity ones for hitting them & compression early & not deafening. loved the c15n in the Peavey Blues Deluxe.

I forgot about that speaker it’s in a 4x10 right now. It is a really good option for low volume playing like you said, that is why I originally bought it. I tried out a few 10” speaks so it was on the wall for a while.

Going to elaborate from spending more time on this amp then ever did with amp before.

In evaluating, learned something. You need a constant to have comparisons. Slapping 2 brand new guitars into didn't help. Oh it was good but soon as Gibson SGJ hit it,, yep all things familiar popped. Having probably 200 songs with that guitar recorded was able to go back and cop just about every tone with this Origin up to the DSL line(slightly more modern-used v30/t75 speakers mostly)
The amps to compare where
JTM 45
VM

Black Flag circuit
JCM 800

Nothing to win or lose, no favs at this point in life to sway an honest evaluation of a tool to use

The Origin 20(on 2x12 bluesbreaker style cab, semi open, Celestion V Type & Crate/Celestion (prob first run v30 type but beat in over all these years)

20 watts MV dimed & gain dimed- huge full tone- only need a boost (klon clear type) and its ride the vol & tone knob heaven on your guitar. It is loud as hell !! But super Marshally. How do i know. Shame its a thing that happens but every proper Marshall i ever owned gives me a headache no matter what level. Why? it is in THE zone a guitar amp needs to be to rule the mix like it has ever since the bassman went across the pond & tweaked to their parts availability.

The headache thing over the years(bandmates-studio guy also) has not alway been volume-its just the EQ that amp dominates at. My sound engineer always loved to record the marshall cranked but there is an all day brashness that goes with the territory with them mids in ya face all day.
Sometime ya noodle on a Fender & record the Marshall-almost alway did it that way. In a band you are the Guitar pop usually- really dont want to adjust the amp cause it is in that spot where it should be.

Half power-where i seem to land but have tilt to the left & scooped a hair probably striving for bassman rhythm tone. neck pickup thickness but it is still so clear in that midrange
MV past half & gain dimed - super agressive
MV & Gain 12 o'clock is a great pedal platform & use tilt to suit your song. Seem to be Left side rhythm & rightish for crunch & aggressive mids

Low Power- I dime it all & its nasty-nasty Marshall at close to reasonable level for late night. It is wicked hot this way & the circuit maxed on low is on the verge of completely beraking up-pedal pushes it to far but it is fun

Metal amp-no way, not even intended to be. Low gain? depends on what you do with gain. If you are a 4 holer past experience. This amp makes all the sense in the world. 1 Bonus the effects loop is very good, dont use it much but it is pretty clear & level

Origin 20 used with a proper guitar & speakers using the tubes hot like any pre DSL is the Ticket,it def has the K-rang & midrange dominace we all have come to depend on
