We have lost a considerable resource of both historical information and photo documentation of how the Frankie evolved and how it was physically created. What a crying shame!

Honestly, what does it matter that someone else ran a fine tooth comb thru EVHs iconic guitar that has been seen by millions the world over? I think that's just his brand and estate trying to strong arm anyone from replicating it, just so they can sell you a Six figure copy themselves. It's really pitiful.

Eddie was a master of turning chicken $hit into chicken salad: taking absolutely nothing and making something incredible from it. Why? Because he lacked resources like having any close friends who could build equipment, as well as not having a lot of money himself starting out but wanting a wide range of sounds with the minimal amount of gear. So, he did the best he could with what little he had and shocked the world with it.

Shutting down other aspiring builders, especially ones just wanting to do this on their own and for themselves, is irritating and goes against the lone gun attitude EVH had himself
 
Agreed, Mike!

Does anyone at EVH/FMIC really believe that someone building a Frankenstein copy will cut into their sales/profits? I believe that anyone willing to spend ridiculous hours studying and obsessing around their own build probably also has a collection of EVH gear that they have already purchased from EVH, FMIC, MXR, etc.

Not to mention that the $2500+ Canadian Dollar Frankenstein replica is no where near close to being an accurate representation of “THE” guitar. I am sure that the original limited run of $25,000USD replicas were very close to the real deal, but I am willing to bet that they are NOT getting played by the typical VH fan. They are collectors pieces only.
 
When I first begin this project, i reached out to our resident Strap-meister, Brad to work up a custom strap for this baby. That got sidelined, along with the build.

i guess it is about time to hit him up again, as this great guitar is going to demand an equally awesome strap!
 
man this is so exciting. I was just dropping in to check this, against what colour thread to stitch your franky tribute strap with. I'm thinking I'm going to carry over the natural wood bits with a similar colour for the stitching. Tie it all together.
