Everyone In

I noticed that Epi has the old headstock with the cut corners, and not the newer, more gibby-esqúe look:

To me, instead of an "open book" look, I see a "mustache"
Still, I like it a little better than the old ones.

Makes me wonder if they're trying to clear out some stock, maybe making room for new inventory? Whatever the case may be, a good deal is a good deal!

Right , good observation. There are so many copy's cheap. Epiphone being the only official copy. It looks great for the price. Great x-mas gift.

I've been looking at some of the Epiphones lately, but I'm really glad I found my Gibson Tribute 1st.

I might would still be interested in this one, but I'd have to play it first because of that fat neck and I doubt I'll ever see one in a store. I don't have a clue who Jared James Nichols is, but I like this guitar.

I've got more in my Epiphone than most all of my Gibsons lol
Plus I added all black hardware, and Seymour Duncan Blackouts!
Admittedly, I have put way more into some guitars than they ever were worth lol got an old hollow body 335 clone that cost like $220 and put about $700 in it, because I Is Smart!! Think the Tele was about $250 and it's got around $500 in it now give it or take.

Good thing I'm a pack rat and don't offload too much, because I could never sell them even if I wanted to lmao

Almost but not quite. It was my first electric. Bought it used. Then it became my test mule. Over the next 2-3 years I change everything but the wood and plastic. Was able to get most of the components used. Only had to pay new price for a few items. In the process, I learned a lot about electric guitars. How to set them up. And…. Had a fair amount of fun doing the mods.

Just what I was thinking.

I have nothing against Epi guitars. I have a G400 and like it.
I got a G400 from back in 96. I had put Gibson 490R/498T pickups in it because back then, they used a lot of no name brands. These were initially labeled Sam Sung ( like Samsung but with a space in it lol). It's mostly left hanging on a wall now, but I used it a lot for years. Actually have debated making that a future project: thinking about stripping it down entirely, either respraying it Cherry red and putting John Birch P-90s in it ala Tony Iommi's Monkey. Or, sanding it to sharper bevels and spraying it Ebony Black with 57 Classic Plus pickups ala Angus Young's Live at Donnington SG

Aw man, you gotta do that!

Alrighty, so Tony clone! Dually noted lol

This is something I've been going over in my head for a while now with. It wouldn't be too difficult at all really EXCEPT procuring the pickups: John Birch Simplux/Superflux pickups are incredibly rarer and rarer these days. They're out there and pop up from time to time, usually about $150-$250 a set but as of this moment, none are available.

I'd also have to route the pickup cavities wider horizontally and use a adapter mounting ring, to hide the gap vertically. But that's no big issue really. Could cheat and find a set of Hyperflux/Magnum pickups but those are true humbuckers vs the original P-90esque single coils from the Monkey.

But, it's all a preproduction stage at this point right now. I think the first order would be securing down the pickups and going from there. Would be a fun little project though! See my wife has this embargo on me about not bringing in any new guitars or amps until we find a bigger house ( I snuck one in when I was given the G&L lol) but she left a BIG loop hole in that embargo: she never mentioned modifying what I already own! Which is what I did with the Tele and the Kansas 335 clone lol
