NGD! ...LP Tribute

So I was in GC yesterday to pickup some DeoxIT and I happened to glance over at the used guitar wall and they had 3 of these hanging side by side. I've heard/read great things about the newer Tributes so I went over to check them out. I grabbed one of them and play around on it for a few minutes and was kind of surprised at how much better it seemed compared to my 2013 Tribute that I've had since it was new. Well I went home and couldn't stop thinking about it so I decided I'd go back and buy one of them.

So I went back today and played all three of them comparing them side by side for probably an hour or so and honestly, they were all very close to the same except one of them just felt a little better than the others and had a better unplugged sound so I brought her home. I actually didn't expect to like the 490T bridge pickup, but it doesn't sound too bad. I don't know if I'll keep it in there but because it has that stupid circuit board controls with quick connects I might just leave it alone for a while.

It's a 2021 LP tribute in Satin Honeyburst and a maple neck. It plays awesome and sounds good, sustains better than all my guitars and is just fun to play.

This might be a problem down the road, but we'll see...

Well it's not a tele but still very cool!

I have a 498 in my CS and I really like it.

I had a 498 before, it reminded me a lot of the Duncan JB. The 490 is nothing like that. It seems really balanced, the 498 has that mid hump.

This may actually be the first guitar I don't modify! lol!

edit: actually, I might have to eat those words. I might remove the pickup covers, I hate pickup covers.

Congratulations! Looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing the pickup opinion/review/info.

You bet. Since I posted earlier I looked up some reviews and opinions on them. I saw some where people say the mids and top end are accented, but I don't get that at all. I have a real sensitivity to high frequencies, I have really bad tinnitus and I have a hard time finding pickups that don't hurt/annoy my ears on the high end. The highs on this 490T don't bother me at all, they're really nice while still bright and chimey, I don't find the mids to be "humped" either, to me the pickup has just the right amount of everything and it has a really nice "chewy" mids and nice crunch at high gain that I really like.

I'll say this, when I was playing some high gain stuff earlier (my SC20), I was surprised when I looked down and noticed my boost was turned off. I was just jammin' along and having a good old time with no pedals on. With my Standard, and all my other guitars really, that have very high output pickups in them, I would've noticed right away that it was off. That alone impressed me more than anything else and that's when I realized I may not need to swap pickups. Plus I get the benefit of having nice clean and dirty blues tones, not to mention awesome the classic rock tones I've never really had like this. It's a win win win win situation.
