RIP, Jimmy Buffet

Just saw this as I woke up. Jimmy Buffet, beach-themed country music pioneer and entrepreneur, passed away at his home on September 1, 2023.

Though I admittedly was never a fan of his music personally, he was no doubt massively popular and one of the biggest touring acts yearly up to today. His hit song Margaritaville, launched an global enterprise brand, that included bars, restaurants, resorts, apparel and even Landshark Lager Beer.

A highly successful individual and beloved by millions, especially to anyone whoever had stepped foot onto a beach in the summertime; you no doubt heard his name and influence.

Just read this myself. Oddly… I kinda became a semi-parrot head in the last several years. Margaritaville Radio on satellite is a station I listen to a lot. He’s gonna be missed by a lot of fans.

Gonna miss my Parrot Head Fridays.

Lets see. SRV, EVH, my Dad, and now Jimmy. All my heroes seem to be gone. Makes a man wonder if he's next.

Can’t say I had been either. Have some friends that have been card carrying Parrot Heads forever. Don’t know what happened. But 2-3 years ago I caught Margaritaville Radio on satellite while driving. And it just sorta stayed there. Don’t consider myself a Parrot Head….. but found myself really liking his music. Beats ABBA or Bobby Sherman.
