Ode to Clockwork Mike AKA, right handed Iommi

Ha, been a while since I did that one! Lol thank you guys for the compliments! While the song is awesome and the guitar is really cool, the guy playing it is of no special concern :ROFLMAO:

That was my dad's 1986 Gibson '62 Reissue SG Custom ( I know it sounds like a misprint, but for some reason they reissued the 62 and not the 61 then, who knows?). He got that back in 1996 I believe at a local music store. Really fun guitar. He had asked me to clean it up and check out the insides to see if everything was still good, so I did and discovered it has the Tim Shaw Gibson pickups which is kinda cool. Basically, Gibsons first attempt of bringing back the PAF before releasing the 57 Classics.

It's actually a Gibson Second, which normally indicated there was an issue during assembly. Couldn't find any defects on this one however. But I called Gibson and ran the serial numbers, in this case, it was actually listed as a Second because it was a NAMM guitar used for promotion that year at trade shows. Apparently, employees would have theirs stamped as Seconds too to take a better guitar sometimes once it rolled off the line ( crafty little trick huh? Lol).

After I cleaned it up and put it all back together with some new strings, figured " What the hell? Might as well play it for a minute before I gotta hand it back over!" And that was the first thing that came to mind: Sabbath lol

Vol. 4 is definitely my favorite Sabbath record ever. Not nearly enough love for it by most critics, but then again, what do they matter? If you deleted the goof track they did for fun in FX, there's really not a weak song on the album. It's very diverse from the beautiful Changes and Laguna Sunrise, to straight metal classics in Snowblind, Tomorrow's Dream, Wheels of Confusion and Supernaut, to one of the heaviest and darkest sounding songs ever recorded: Under The Sun.

Great job Mike.Sabbath rules !!! I been workin on Hole in the Sky.Not as easy as one would think.
No it is not! Iommi's stuff to the untrained ear SEEMS easy but he has a very particular style throughout all the riffs in one single song he would come up and the rhythms can change at will. Incredibly sad how underrated he truly is.

Good luck on the song brother, hope to hear it sometime!
That's my favorite Sabbath record. We would occasionally do "Supernaut" when my a friend would be our guest vocalist when sharing the same bill. Would have loved to have had a video of that.
That makes two of us! Would love to hear it!

@chilipeppermaniac had requested this, so here ya go, warts and all I'm sure! ( Hadn't played a guitar but twice in the last month, so shaking some rust out but hey, it happens!) Complete with the Pastel Plaid no less ( birthday present I got asked and guilted into why I hadn't worn it yet lmao)

"FREAKIN A"

YEAH BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I better call Geezer and Bill Ward so you guys can record together ASAP.

That's a GREAT best of! Probably the best of best ofs. I had a copy a while back but I have NO idea where it went. Covered the key years of Sabbath with Ozzy, Dio and even a Gillian track in there! Spiral Architect is still one of my all time favorites that never gets much love.

And thank for you the compliment my friend! Kinda learned that on the fly after you requested it honestly lol

I wish I could learn a song as easy as you made it seem, Mike.

You are skilled and have a good ear. Thanks for playing the Killing Yourself to Live cut.

Funny thing is I have seen Sabbath a couple of times with Ozzy, and his live voice has never matched the album,, even with the Blizzard.

But the guy doing the vocals , with After Forever. matched the albums perfectly..
I can concur this! Saw Sabbath once and Ozzy twice. The most on point I heard him was strangely enough his last tour in 2018 before medical issues retired him. He sounded incredible and it was actually shocking. Had more life in him than I've seen in decades, vocals were top notch. The Sabbath show in 2005, it was a lil rougher around the edges, but, it WAS the full reunited Sabbath so i could've cared less if they played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Still would've loved it lmao
