Just up having coffee and enjoying some sciatic nerve pain I can't shake, but what exactly do those plates do anyway?

Sciatica is a bummer. Sorry to hear.
The plates are drilled and tapped to accept the height adjustment/mounting screws. Some have both, inner(P90) and outer(SD soapbar and mini-humbucker ) mounting holes...and can handle either pickup style.

Speaking of, shipping larger heavy items is expensive so I figured it might be better in small pieces. Perhaps I can cut it up into a small box size of bits and send it! :dance:

I concur sir! Best just to begin slowly by meticulously unsoldering,, packing, and shipping me the pickups first as a tester. My main concern here is (I can't stress this enough) is that you are happy and content with this whole process.

Well let's not get too hasty. Besides, I happen to know you probably don't have one as you have most discretionary funds sunk into a massive curved television. Please don't run out and needlessly invest in a new saw. Just go ahead and stick with me and we will get through this process together. I want it to be rewarding for BOTH of us, by over thinking this you may not enjoy sending the parts as much.
