Hi
This is the most risk purchase ever. The seller said It don't sounds. The pics from main board were terrible. Inside it seemed that the channel change relay had exploded. Many electronic components had been changed. No rear black grill. No tubes. But It's a Marshall!, lol. Usually I bought my amps in working conditions. Then they had a minor problems or major problems. Once I bought a TSL60 that I had a lot issues. Bypassed fuses, footswitch didn't work, speaker output broken and bad power tubes. But boards were in perfect conditions. I was able to fixed It.
This one have been the hardest challenge ever. It is a 2020 model. It had the worst soldering job done ever. The relay was burned because solder iron. Many broken tracks. Some components oversized. Master volume pot with a broken axis. First impression was that I made a big mistake buying this amp. I don't know what the hell seller wanted to do with it. But I'm a lucky boy transformers are ok.
Finally I was able to fix It but It was a pain in my ass. On monday sudently lead channel had no sound. Yesterday I was able to fix It. Three components more had broken.
Now I think it's ok. At less right now. It will don't be a surprice If It fails again.
Overall I'm happy. It sounds great.
Here is a pic of mutilated boards. As you can see It had really bad job replacing components.

Awesome
Question what part or parts broke to make lead channel not work?
Curious
A diode 1N4007 shorted broken 2 diode led. You can see on main board before fixe It 2 small red leds. After fix It you can see one red and one green. This causes an open circuit on lead channel. I replaced one 1N4007 and two diode leds. Maybe I will need replace others diode 1N4007 from lead channel circuit. I'm not an amp tech. Let's see It.

Maybe It had just a preamp tube. Preamp tube close to guitar input. As you descrives looks like It fails the preamp. Best of luck with It.

It sounds great, I like the way that riff is constructed. Well thought out.
Congrats on getting it sounding good. I want one of those amps , just pricing on them is a bit much.
Thank you!
In USA Marshall amp prices are insane. Here in Europe Marshall prices are ok. If you compare Marshall with Orange, Blackstar, Vox, etc... Marshall wins IMHO. They sell many amps every day. You can find used ones really cheap. In Italy you can find great deals. Germany eBay is amazing. But usually cheap ones have issues.

Very good save!!!!!

The EVH amps are very unreliable. In working with them, i noted that internals were always from varied suppliers, and huge quality variations were noted...

For example, transformers were unbranded with inked Chinese characters.

Thank you!

I have heard this before! I guess the US import taxes or just general price fixing makes Marshalls outrageously priced compared to the European market. It's a shame, because they're phenomenal and legendary for a good reason.

I've joked, that if I ever make it back overseas, id probably go snatch one and see if I could sneak it onboard the plane and say it's "an emotional support animal" lmao

If I want an amp from USA like Mesa Boogie or Friedman here cost a small fortune. 3000, 4000 even 5000€. It's insane spent this money for just one amp.
